  1. Anyone who believes Trump’s political propaganda that those who are kneeling are protesting our military (past or present) isn’t thinking.

He has now changed a peaceful protest for equality into a protest against a man named Trump and those of us who are thinking need to keep the attention where it belongs — on the institutional racism Trump contributes to.

The offended want to make the protesters the object of ridicule, so as to take focus off their cause.

Institutionalized racism, inequality in the justice system and racial injustice is what the nation should be talking about.

Trump moves the discussion to attack the messengers.

Don’t let the fascist, reality show star divert our attention from the fact that, he’s okay with white supremacists protesting, but wants to make black people the enemy when they quietly, peacefully kneel.

  2. Many black veterans also fought, bled, and died, for what that flag is supposed represent…all men are created equal…but, imagine coming home and finding nothing you fought for was true, that you were still just a n#%$@.

That is the reality of America’s systemic racism, that the state sanctioned murder of black men, women, or children, is so commonplace in America, that once again the Black Community felt compelled to start a public movement that says, Black Lives Matter—TOO.

That is what is being lost in this argument this protest is about systemic racial injustice.

As a white vet, I say it’s time we ALL TAKE A KNEE in solidarity.

“President Trump’s recent remarks suggesting NFL team owners should fire players who kneel during the national anthem could be a federal crime.

18 U.S. Code § 227 stipulates that any federal employee, member of Congress, or member of the executive branch is forbidden from using their position within the federal government to influence the employment decisions of a private business, solely on the basis of partisan political affiliation. The penalty for doing so could result in fines and incarceration of up to 15 years, and anyone who is found guilty of violating that law could even be disqualified from holding office:

(a)Whoever, being a covered government person, with the intent to influence, solely on the basis of partisan political affiliation, an employment decision or employment practice of any private entity—

    (1) takes or withholds, or offers or threatens to take or withhold, an official act, or

    (2) influences or offers or threatens to influence, the official act of another shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than 15 years, or both, and may be disqualified from holding any office of honour, trust, or profit under the United States.

It’s worth noting that U.S. Code specifies that no federal employee is exempt from the law, including the President of the United States.”

The fat S.O.B in the White House is the one who needs to be fired.

  3. And, while we were all distracted by this, the travel ban was expanded. Additionally, the Senate leadership was working to sweeten the pot for Alaska, Arizona, and Maine to retain votes for Obamacare repeal. When the President is an expert media manipulator, we can expect this kind of thing.

    • My son said the same thing on Sunday – Trump is very good at throwing out his bombs of shiny new objects to go chase – while he and his fellow RePUKES do what they do best.

I agreed with the my son – but I think Trump is trying to distract everyone’s attention away from his choking and backing down from the North Korean Nut Job Rocket Man.

Bullies are very good at spewing names with a lot of bluster – but when it comes to actually fighting – bullies don’t do that part.

I suspect Trump has already been told by Gen. Mattis (sp?) and Gen. McMasters – and maybe Gen. John Kelly (?) that Trump’s mouth is writing checks our military cannot cash.

Even with our huge and powerful military – China and Russia are both sitting on the sidelines just waiting for their chance to knock America off our pedestal – IMHO

      Or maybe I am wrong??

  4. Apropos of the above, I offer

My son also mentioned Trump’s personal history with fighting – and losing to the NFL.

Trump has shown us before how he holds personal grudges against people and then proudly ‘hits back harder’ when he thinks he has a crowd of wannabe soldiers to do his bidding – and Trumpublicans are all too eager to do their master’s bidding – huh?”

Let’s face the facts – Trump has proven himself to be a sore loser. But I guess that is what is passing now for a God-fearing Kristian man that God himself hand picked to the be the Messiah.

In case you missed it – that last sentence was pure sarcasm.

      • BTW – Does anybody else find Trump and Trumpublicans hypocrits (or downright liars?) when they claim to be such great and patriotic Americans that would never disrespect their country or the American Flag?

Hmm……..flying the Confederate Flag – the flag of the Traitors that declared war on their own country (yes, that same America) and many times that Confederate Flag is right next to the American Flag.

        Is that not total disrespect?

  5. I stumbled on an old thread of some of us discussing whether or not we thought a civil war was once again coming to American soil. It’s interesting to go back and read discussion we had at Prairie Pops in days gone by. I think you’ll enjoy reading this, even if it is something you already read.

    • Oh, but fnord – these poor persecuted Evangelical Kristians are commanded to demonize and hate same-sex marriage – while their own Golden Messiah Boy is on his third marriage.

OH – and let’s not forget their Messiah bragging on that 2005 tape how he groped women’s p_____ and how he tried to seduce a married woman – while at the time of this taping – he had just married his third wife and she was home pregnant with his kid.

OH – but that must be what these Kompassionate Kristian Konservatives’ God thinks is so good morals?

I really miss my President Obama and his lovely family. Now here is a perfect example of how ‘real’ Christians live their faith through their actions and not just spew empty words.

  7. FLAG
    By Robert Weldon

As an immigrant to this nation, I love the American flag.

It pains me to see her burnt or trampled on, because of what this country aspires to be… and often achieves. She has waved on the Beaches of Normandy in our great battle over evil with Nazis. The flag has undulated in the wind as we witnessed the crumbling of the Berlin wall and oppression. She has filled us with a lifetime of pride knowing that our resourcefulness took us to the moon and back, and because her colors remain planted on the lunar surface. Our flag on the side of ships cutting a swath in the seas, steaming to deliver aid around the world in times of need … represents who we are as a people, in great part. Generous, forgiving, and on the right side of history.

The flag signifies freedom from oppression and the abolition of slavery. It has welcomed millions of immigrants to these shores in search of opportunities; a grand experiment in the flavors and diversity of our rich melting pot. To the arrivals on these shores, pledging allegiance…. the mere sight of this bright cloth brings tears of joy. To the children of those immigrants, our stars and stripes caress the notion of equality, prizing and rewarding ingenuity and chutzpah.

Our flag speaks of freedom of the press and freedom of opinion and speech. She is about inclusiveness; touching on the essential spirit that Robert Frost wrote about: “Something there is that doesn’t love a wall, That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it, And spills the upper boulders in the sun; And makes gaps even two can pass abreast.”

I confess to this naiveté. But I remain in love with our flag’s resounding message.

But is the assault on the free press that we witness every day …symbolized by this flag? Do we think of her when we witness the grossly disproportionate battering and killing of Americans due to the color of their skin? Or when our president cannot repudiate the Nazis our veterans fought against, and singles some of them out as “fine people.” Doesn’t our flag pale just a little? (And especially when Nazi flags, emblazoned with Swastikas are waved on our streets at the same time, unabated) Does our flag symbolize vanishing human decency and decorum, and this horrific, shameful, treatment of women?

When an athlete kneels and bows his head in front of the flag in protest, he is saying that these aspects do not square with his present beliefs of what the flag represents. That’s all. He is not burning the flag, or trampling it. He is sending a powerful message that, in his opinion, America is off-course.
