Is our President ill; mentally ill? Did you watch MSNBC’s Lawrence O’donnell last night? Two credentialed mental health experts (PhD & Psychoanalyst) pursue the “Duty to Warn.” Interesting; very interesting.
I watched. I already questioned his mental stability so I was ripe to be convinced. They certainly did present very good cases! I would agree completely that #45 is at minimum emotionally damaged.
A DEFCON warning in next week’s issue of The New Yorker … “Active Measures” — by Evan Osnos in D.C., Editor David Remnick in NYC and Joshua Yaffa in Moscow — on fears of the neutering of NATO and the decoupling of America from European security: “If that happens, it gives Putin all kinds of opportunities.”
Strobe Talbott, who was President Bill Clinton’s leading adviser on Russia and the region, and now is Brookings President: “There is a very real danger not only that we are going to lose a second Cold War — or have a redo and lose — but that the loss will be largely because of a perverse pal-ship, the almost unfathomable respect that Trump has for Putin.”
Why it matters … Talbott, on the consequences of “losing” such a conflict: “The not quite apocalyptic answer is that it is going to take years and years and years to get back to where we — we the United States and we the champions of the liberal world order — were as recently as five years ago.”
“An even graver scenario, Talbott said, would be an ‘unravelling,’ in which we revert to ‘a dog-eat-dog world with constant instability and conflict even if it doesn’t go nuclear. But, with the proliferation of nuclear powers, it is easy to see it going that way, too.'”
The fantasy of a Hillary Clinton senior adviser: “[W]hat if Barack Obama had gone to the Oval Office, or the East Room of the White House, and said, ‘I’m speaking to you tonight to inform you that the United States is under attack. The Russian government at the highest levels is trying to influence our most precious asset, our democracy, and I’m not going to let it happen.'”
Cover Story: “In a riff on the magazine’s first cover, from 1925, by Rea Irvin, Blitt imagines a future in which The New Yorker’s dandy mascot has become Eustace Vladimirovich Tilley and the lepidopteran under scrutiny is none other than a stunned Donald Trump.”
David Ignatius column in WashPost: “We may be missing the forest for the trees in the Russia story: The Kremlin’s attempt to meddle in the 2016 U.S. presidential election is part of a much bigger tale of Russian covert action — in which Donald Trump’s campaign was perhaps a tool, witting or unwitting.”
“This secret manipulation, if unchecked, could pose an ‘existential threat’ to Western democracy, argues Gérard Araud, France’s ambassador to Washington.”
“If the United States and its allies don’t resist, a post-West era may indeed be next.”
Will be big on Sunday shows … “FBI refused White House request to knock down recent Trump-Russia stories” — CNN: “Priebus later reached out again to [FBI Deputy Director Andrew] McCabe and to FBI Director James Comey asking for the FBI to at least talk to reporters on background to dispute the stories.”
What can be frightening for me is that many of his supporters agree with his insanity. That speaks volumes as to their own mental state. It also does not speak well of the future of this country for now!
I hear little hands is excluding news outfits that he thinks unfavorable to him from press conferences now. Wisely, other news outfits are refusing to attend unless ALL are admitted. ALL news outlets should stand together on this. If they do not, when we are back in power, I want the same done to news that does not agree with my world view.
Also, Putin’s bitch will not attend the White House correspondents event. This is the event where years ago the President and some other speakers DARED to poke fun at him, I think prompting him to run. “I’ll show THEM!”
By not doing so, he demonstrates he cannot withstand even light hearted criticism. There is a move to get Alec Baldwin to stand in for him! PLEASE let this happen! It will be glorious and reduce him to the ranting child he is!
And now comes news that Sean Spicer is conducting random phone searches on staff, looking for leaks. The fact that he DID this was also almost immediately “leaked”. Spicer also told staff “this is recess comparing to what will come if we don’t find the “leaks”.
Now, a “leak” is really just news that you don’t want known. If they will do this because of information about the administration that is merely embarrasing, they mu st be concerned info will get out about what the administration is doing that is ILLEGAL.
Exclusions of certain press. Draconian measures against yes, employees but also public servants. This too will backfire.
I heard a foreign political pundit say something very interesting.
At some point, the American people (even some of Trump’s voters) will grow tired of all his whining, nasty name calling, tweets filled with personal insults and his incessant blaming anyone and everyone for his failures.
The final straw will be when those coal miners and steel workers who got Trump elected by the Electoral College wake up and look around when their jobs don’t ever come back – as promised by Trump.
These are the angry white working class Americans throughout the middle of the country that were the ones that got their boy Trump into the White House through the back door.
But let’s not forget – Trump lost the Popular Vote by 2.9 million. Those folks are not going anywhere – and the best thing we can do is to sit back and wait for Trump to fall flat on his face.
IMHO – that won’t take very long – maybe within the first 6 months.
But my biggest fear is – Trump will get America into war(s) – and will he use that crisis to try to unite the country?
I don’t think so….not this time around. And not if people think Trump is going to war just to make his BFF – the Communist Leader Putin – a happy little dictator.
But one thing for sure – all those Trump voters should volunteer to be the first ones in Trump’s front line of combat.
Do you think the Trump voters will put their butts where their mouths are?

I wonder exactly what it will take? It seems it not just coming daily but every two hours. Donny and the Neocons are being busy!
