  1. And then factor in that Dick Cheney is from Wyoming – along with a lot of folks who think just like DICKIE.

    Scary thought…

  2. Have a tissue handy. I am so proud of the two men who are currently our president and vice president! This is a little about Joe.

    • This is what America will be missing in the coming four years – IMHO. Men like Joe Biden, good men with good intentions for ALL Americans, will not be the ones put on the golden pedestals.

Trump and Republicans are all about MONEY and power – and that does not bode well for our nation.

BTW – Obama ran on change in 2008. He ran on creating high-paying jobs, infrastructure and getting out of the Iraq War.

What I find so sad is that – once again – dirty politics has reared it’s ugly head and our nation has wasted the past 8 years of so much more accomplishments – if Republicans had just been good men with good intentions and put their country first.

But – alas – here we are – 8 years later and going into an even deeper divide in our country.

And what does Trump do ? He gets on a Twitter rant about the cast of the Broadway show ‘Hamilton’ and then goes on to Tweet about how he SNL is non funny.

When is Trump going to prove what he said on election night – that he was the president of All Americans??

Just empty words……mighty winds come from empty caves

  3. I’ve stuff to say, but without time (currently) to say it. For rationale setting forth why the Electoral College exists, see The Federalist Papers: No. 68. I agree with much of Mr. Hamilton’s arguments.

  4. I’m sharing this link our good old friend CF2K shared on Facebook.

He said: “This is very much worth a read. The pie chart in particular.”

  5. Two issues: 1st, Grossly unfair; 2nd, Clearly not even close to the collective vote results created by the citizens who voted. Democracy? No way! More of a Republic. Question: What can voters do about it when they predictably elect idiots to represent them, election after election with no term limits.

  6. This is GOOD news. Senator Sanders has just introduced his own $1trillion infrastructure bill. He says, “Trump’s plan to repair our infrastructure is a scam that gives massive tax breaks to large companies & billionaires.” Thanks to Senator Sanders democrats aren’t just saying, “No,” as republicans did the last eight years, but bring a better plan to the table.

  7. An American philosophy professor Richard Rorty with impeccable academic credentials and a very distinguished academic career predicted in 1998 what’s happening today:

“Members of labor unions, and unorganized unskilled workers, will sooner or later realize that their government is not even trying to prevent wages from sinking or to prevent jobs from being exported. Around the same time, they will realize that suburban white-collar workers — themselves desperately afraid of being downsized — are not going to let themselves be taxed to provide social benefits for anyone else.

At that point, something will crack. The nonsuburban electorate will decide that the system has failed and start looking around for a strongman to vote for — someone willing to assure them that, once he is elected, the smug bureaucrats, tricky lawyers, overpaid bond salesmen, and postmodernist professors will no longer be calling the shots…

One thing that is very likely to happen is that the gains made in the past forty years by black and brown Americans, and by homosexuals, will be wiped out. Jocular contempt for women will come back into fashion… All the resentment which badly educated Americans feel about having their manners dictated to them by college graduates will find an outlet…”

After my imagined strongman takes charge, he will quickly make his peace with the international superrich.

  8. 53 Years ago today JFK was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Where would we be if this event had never happened?

    • In a kinder America – IMHO

I was in the 5th grade when JFK was assassinated. I remember our teacher, Mr. Wall, came in the classroom as white as a ghost. I sensed something was very wrong.

Then the principal announced what happened. So many kids cried – but yet a few kids from the ‘good’ Republican families – actually said – at least he is a dead Democrat.

The teacher heard those kids and I thought he was going to throw them out the 2nd story window.

That is the day I remember two things:

      1) America lost a good president.
      2) America has its share of IDIOTS.

Sad to say – in 2008 when so many Republicans went on the Birther madness of intentionally making Obama an illegitimate president – my first thought was – those idiots in my 5th grade class are now grown IDIOTS in the Republican Party.

  9. I had to shake my head and just laugh this morning.

Televangelist Pat Robertson actually said that Trump is amazing at picking all the ‘right’ people.

One such example is Ben Carson to head the HUD.

And Pat’s reasoning for how amazing this pick is? Ben Carson grew up in the projects in Detroit. So – he will know how to maneuver around that big agency and he will know how to ‘fix things’.

So – I guess since the black man grew up in the projects – then he should also know how the Wealthy White Slum Landlords also work – these are the folks that love to get that guaranteed government money through those evil government subsidies.

Trump and his supporters are such a peculiar bunch.

  10. Thunderchild

Predictable. And I can see just how a Carson Secretary of HUD will work, or HHS if he gets that….

Carson : “Now….you may not know it….but ….God has given you gifts. It’s true. Now….hunger and cold….they might not seem like gifts, but they are! That hunger and cold is Gods gift to remind you are not right with yourself or with him. And…if you don’t embrace these gifts….you can’t find the other gifts!
