  1. Everyone who worked hard, saved, has a 401k or an annuity just lost a bunch. And the world’s markets are crashing too. Trump.

I could not even get my own useless son to vote. Even though it would not have mattered.
Frankly? I find no further reason to live. Agaist all my best hopes America is clearly a mean and stupid nation.
Hell I don’t care whether I live or die. And clearly, America does not either.

  3. I have the feeling at least some within my family negated my vote. The powers of fascist Religion were too powerful over reason. To them is was protecting the unborn, even though I have pointed out that of what service would they be doing if that person is to grow up in a fascist country? Here I set, brain damaged and all, yet I am seeing it clearer then those who are blinded by both hate and Christian love!

    @@@@

The election of Trump does not jive with these results – do they?

I heard this morning that Hillary won the popular vote and Trump got fewer votes than John McCain did in 2008.

So – Republicans think they have this big mandate to take us to the Far Right.

But there is still a very deep divide within our country -and I suspect it is even deeper now.

We are all old enough to know that life is all about balance. You take the good with the bad.

Personally – I think Republicans will once again overstep themselves and get into a lot of trouble.

Midterms are in 2 years. It will be interesting to see who keeps their jobs. But that depends on if Trump delivers on his promises or will he be just another Republican who will take us to WAR(s).

This time – I do hope Republicans will send their own loved ones to do the actual fighting and dying. But, I know, that is too much to hope for

    • One last thought –

My son said this back in 2008 when Obama won the first time. Americans would rather elect a black man than a woman (remember, Hillary lost to Obama in the primary).

I wonder if Americans will ever be ready to elect a woman as president?

Or do we have too many Far Right Evangelical Kristians in this country that truly believe that women are here to merely be play toys for the men who wish to grope their p______ whenever they feel like it?

For being such a Loud-N-Proud Christian country – Americans have a history of treating minorities and women of all color like second class citizens.

  5. I stayed up waaay too late last night. Heard Trump give a speech that sounded like a different man than the one who campaigned. Didn’t sleep well. I listened to Hillary give her concession speech just now. She, as always, was amazing and her words brought tears to my eyes and my heart. I’m more sad and scared than is healthy.

So, I need to take a break. On my phone this morning I found a test message from my oldest grandson who lives in NYC. It read: Hang in there today. Its gonna be ok. Try and unplug from the news and do something that makes you feel good 🙂 I love you grandma.

I’m going to heed that advice and least for a little while UNPLUG.

I love you all — you are the people that have always made America great!

    • Our little blog is filled with a lot of love and respect for one another. Your grandson is very wise – unplug for a while and do something that makes you feel good.

Our country survived Ronald Reagan and his selling war arms to Iran.

Our country survived George W. Bush and Dick Cheney invading Iraq over false premise of weapons of mass destruction.

      And we can survive Trump.

As I told my husband last night – maybe our country had to hit rock bottom before we could fix what is wrong in order to come back stronger than ever?

Let’s face it – Trump is nothing more than reality t.v. star and nobody took his candidacy serious. So – he proved that he could win and that was the only thing he ever talked about – his winning.

Well – campaigning is one thing – now he has to govern and deliver on his many promises. And his crowd are not in the mood to sit back and not get what they want – and right now.

I expect Trump does not have a clue as to what he has gotten himself into – but I would sure like to be there to see his face the first time he is put to the test.

I suspect there would be a very big puddle on the spot where Trump is first tested.

Insult to such such awful injury….

We now know that just as in 2000, an outdated and undemocratic process has once again allowed the voice of the people to be swept aside in favor of archaic rules written by rich white men who believed that if lightning hit your house and burned it down, you were wrong with “God”.
So, in 2000, the election was stolen. There were no protests, or not many.
Now we lose it on a technicality. To those same archaic rules. Ironically enough, those rules were placed in the Constitution to STOP just the sort of thing that happened in 2000 (fraud in an individual State and what just happened, (populism directed at CERTAIN States)
I give it to the cons, they are REAL good at gaming with the Electoral College. In 2000, steal one State and win.Just now, pick off a State or two with a general populist message. And all the while, they have in their back pocket howls of anger and revolution IF they lose.
Do you even want to imagine what we would have today or in 2000 if their beloved electoral college had failed them?
If Hillary or Gore had won the electoral and lost the popular vote, do you even IMAGINE they would have accepted it?
Stop. No, I am not ready to give up on the electoral college. Though it has failed America twice. And there would be no Electoral College if 2000 had evolved the other way.
The difference between then and now that I do see is our anger. There are protests THIS time all across America to what has happened AGAIN. I hope these protests continue. I want to tell Trump and his supporters, Congratulations! You just elected the most hated man in America and promoted him to the most hated man on the planet! But this time, we are NOT going away. This time we will not swallow this theft. Donald Trump will NEVER be our President.
Breaking news: At a peaceful anti Trump rally, shots have been fired and several protesters injured maybe killed. Thanks Trump.

Don’t accept this. Not like we did in 2000. He wanted the job (not but I’ll do that later) well he and his supporters have it. Let us make them and HIM miserable and sorry.
Donald Trump will NEVER be my President. I hope he fails. I now consider any Donald Trump supporter a personal enemy.

    • I heard a historian say this has happened four times in history – and each time, it benefited the Republicans. He did not go into details as to which four elections.

But I remember the 2000 election – and we watched what these Republicans did with their newfound power – didn’t we?

I also remember being called a traitor because I dared to question why Bush and Gang were beating the war drums to invade Iraq.

I also remember how Republicans intentionally set out to ruin the careers of the Dixie Chicks simply because the lead singer made the remark that she they were embarrassed to be from Texas.

And yet – with all this – Republicans still claim to be the ones who are the victims and are never the ones that start any fights.

It takes a very dedicated and loyal person to simply not see the truth in front of you. I’ve often thought this is why Republicans are heavily into these Mega Church Evangelical Kristians. These are folks who follow their own narrow agenda and expect everyone else to bow down to them because they use Jesus as their weapon .

Excuse me – but Jesus never once bragged about groping women’s p_____ and going into details on how to ‘nail’ a married woman while shopping for furniture. I’m certain Jesus also never defrauded anyone or even worshipped the Golden Idol of money.

I’ve said this before – many, many times – Religion and Politics should NEVER mix.

IMHO – Trump is what happens when Reagan teamed up with Jerry Falwell Sr and his Immorality Boys in 1980 and smeared the good name of Jimmy Carter. From that point on- these Mega Church Evangelical Kristians have been amassing more and more power.

      It’s not good…

  7. I am on a roll this morning! Check out what I put on Facebook! The very believe that we are indeed a democracy. is nothing more then a “sugar tit” when the candidate who wins the popular vote is negated! It means all the money, the air time and voting is a waste of all three.

    • The silver lining in this situation is that it wasn’t the republican who won the popular vote but not the office. I can’t imagine (or don’t want to anyway) what the Trump supporters would be doing right now in that case. I know our country would be much less safe right now! They have bunches of guns and they’re itchin’ to use them.

      • But those same Republicans threatened to use their guns and cause a revolution if their boy had lost.

But now since there protesters all over the country (some with violence and some without violence) against their boy Trump because he won – these same Republicans who threatened their own armed revolution are calling Anti-Trump protesters criminals.

It just goes to show the total hypocrisy (?) or is it just plain HATRED that is so engrained in Republicans that they cannot see what they are doing?

  8. This piece by Garrison Keillor did give me a few minutes of calm, and reassured me I’m in a good place with good people. It’s a short read and I found it comforting.

    • I listen to Prairie Home Companion a lot. When I worked part time on the weekends (I was the only one in the office most of the time), I had my radio tuned into NPR all the time. When one particular Republican Loud-N-Proud pharmacist would come in for an emergency fill, I would usually hear the question – why don’t you listen to the real stations- the ones that play music.

IF I wanted to listen to mindless chatter – I would be a Fox News junkie.

  9. I’m sure most of you remember Cap’n America from the old newspaper. He posted this on his Facebook yesterday. I think you’ll all appreciate it. 🙂

Well, Cons, you got it all now–The Presidency, the Senate, The House, and you can pack the Supreme Court.

    1. Overturn Roe v Wade. Quit effing around on it, and outlaw it just like you’ve promised for the last forty years.

    2. Make fully automatic weapons legal. Guns are good . . . more guns equal less crime, the only thing to stop a bad guy is a good guy with a gun. So go ahead and act on your convictions.

    3. Pay down the national debt. You’ve been whining about it since Carter, so let’s see you implement a plan and freaking DO IT.

    4. Bring back American manufacturing jobs just like you promised. Yeah. Good luck with that.

    5. Force China to re-value its currency and buy American products. You said you could do it, so effing do it.

    6. Repeal Obama-care. Make the working class idiots who voted for you find out what it’s like to be one hospital stay away from losing their house and everything that’s in it. Elections have consequences, people.

You wanted it all, you got it. Now let’s see if you can quit blaming Obama and Hillary long enough to actually shit while you’re sitting on the pot.

  10. Serious question –

How long will it take before President-elect or President Trump make his first fatal mistake?

There is that Trump University Fraud case being heard in San Diego today. Remember – this is the judge that Trump ridiculed and accused him of not being fair to him because the Judge is Hispanic.

Way to go Trump – keep it classy

    • Fatal mistake?

I don’t think that exists among Trump supporters. I believe what Trump said about shooting someone wouldn’t make his lose voters.

      • This is a good op-ed in our local newspaper this morning —

(snip from the link): They wanted change so much they were willing to disregard outrageous Trump remarks and behaviors.

        http://www.kansas.com/opinion/article113859033.html

      • But there is more than half of the voters (Hillary won the popular vote) that are Anti Trump. At some point, this factor will play a major role – IMHO.

Plus – the Senate is barely Republican majority and the House is more Republicans, but not nearly the numbers they need to push their agenda without some help from Democrats.

If the new Congress is just another Do -Nothing Congress – will these Trump supporters still be happy with him?

And if Trump used Executive Orders to push his agenda – isn’t that just inviting the Democrats and that half of voters who are Anti-Trump to demand investigations – that could put Trump into a real problem area.

My DIL said it best last night – Trump has no idea what he just stepped into this time – does he?

NO – he doesn’t – but we’re stuck with him unless – or until – something happens to change that fact.

Then we’re stuck with Pence. JEEZUS…..help us.

  11. Still I Rise – Maya Angelou
You may write me down in history
    With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.
    Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
    Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
    With the certainty of tides,
    Just like hopes springing high,
    Still I’ll rise.
Did you want to see me broken?
    Bowed head and lowered eyes?
    Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
    Weakened by my soulful cries.
    Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own back yard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.
    Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history’s shame
    I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
    I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
    I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
    I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
    I rise
    I rise
    I rise.

    • Hope is a powerful energy.

A President Trump reminds me that an addict needs to hit rock bottom before they can pick themselves up and start to live again.

Our country has been deeply divided for a long, long time.

Maybe Trump making Republicans look like failures – even with control of House and Senate for the second time (GWB and Dick Cheney were first) – this will be the final nail in the Grand Old Party’s coffin?

I think we all agree – Trump is not going to listen to reason and do the smart thing – to really reach out to everybody. And I know that he can’t do this – because if he did, his own base would chew him up and spit him out.

But at what point is all this mindless partisan political B.S. going to be enough?

When our country really does implode from the weight of arrogance and ignorance?

  12. Thunderchild

As bad as you can even IMAGINE it will be? It will be so much worse. The cons drug their feet for nearly a year. That gives Trump and his gang an appointee on the Supreme Court right out of the box. Back to a 5 to 4 right wing court and by the time he’s done it may be as much as 7 to 2 right wing for the next 30 YEARS.That AND control of both Senate and the House?
You can say goodbye to almost all of the progress of the last 50 years.. The list of progress they can reverse and damage they will do is virtually limitless. They have unlimited power.

8 years ago, Obama was presented with such power. He wasted it for two years trying to play nice. History may never forgive him for that given what is about to happen.
Donald Trump and Republicans don’t DO nice. They will not waste the power they have taken You name it, everything that has been a bother to them for the last CENTURY, they can change it. And they will. Given Trumps voter base, they MIGHT even take a shot at civil rights and integrated schools. Though there is likely enough entrenchment there to make that unsuccessful. But everything else from a woman’s right to choose to welfare to health care to separation of church and State, you name it, its gonna go.
One TINY, and it is TINY sliver of hope? Trump WAS originally a Democrat. And his talk of revitalizing infrastructure is I THINK sincere and vaguely even a little reminiscent of FDR. Too, he has a penchant for using other peoples money to do what he wants. He will likely quickly learn that his party will not let him run up the debt and his tax cuts for the rich will leave him no budget for his vision to leave a VISIBLE mark on America. But even this glimmer of faint hope hasi its dark side. Trump has a history of stiffing contractors. With SO many people unemployed or underemployed, I can see a Trump version of FDRs works progress administration. Only in Trump world it will come in the form of forced labor camps.
A bit of breaking news as I close. The election was rigged of COURSE, until Trump won. Oh but now it was fair and free and the people PROTESTING are “rigged”
This does not look like a man who wants to bring the country together.
