  1. LOL you might believe the fuss I am having with Trump supporters. I get in arguments with them on face book. When ever I get something posted to my page.

  2. Elizabeth Warren —

Donald Trump is now the leader of the Republican Party. It’s real – he is one step away from the White House. Here’s what else is real:

Trump has built his campaign on racism, sexism, and xenophobia. There’s more enthusiasm for him among leaders of the KKK than leaders of the political party he now controls.

He incites supporters to violence, praises Putin, and, according to a columnist who recently interviewed him, is “cool with being called an authoritarian” and doesn’t mind associations with history’s worst dictators.

He attacks veterans like John McCain who were captured and puts our service members at risk by cheer leading illegal torture. In a world with ISIS militants and leaders like North Korean strongman Kim Jong-Un conducting nuclear tests, he surrounds himself with a foreign policy team that has been called a “collection of charlatans,” and puts out contradictory and nonsensical national security ideas one expert recently called “incoherent” and “truly bizarre.”

What happens next will test the character for all of us – Republican, Democrat, and Independent. It will determine whether we move forward as one nation or splinter at the hands of one man’s narcissism and divisiveness. I know which side I’m on, and I’m going to fight my heart out to make sure Donald Trump’s toxic stew of hatred and insecurity never reaches the White House.

Look at my posted link (on last Wednesday’s feed) to Robert Gates’ interview about his feelings about a Trump presidency.

Robert Gates worked for a lot of presidents – both political parties – and I have never known Gates to be a person who says flippant things. This is a man that I respect and admire because he seems to be the type of American that is in public service for the right reasons.

Gates is troubled by a possible President Trump…….so that’s all I need to know.

I have a theory as to why Trump has become so popular – and now the presumptive GOP nominee.

People are tired of being pushed around and people know we have very little power or control over much in our lives.

Our jobs are not secure – our health care is not secure and getting more expensive as the weeks go by and people are not being heard.

This is the toxic mixture that is behind Trump’s popularity and Trump is a reality t.v. showman – the carnival barker type.

Trump is the bully that downtrodden and desperate people will vote for because Trump can say the most outrageous things and do whatever he wants to do to the ‘establishment’ and gets away with it – which is what the average American cannot do.

We don’t have the power to tell these corporations back – and we feel lousy and depressed

On the basic level – Trump is the bully puppet that is laughed at because the GOP establishment has lost every time they have tried to bring down Trump.

Reality T.V. at it’s best…..and the ratings are sky high…

    • Part of the problem other then there are those other then trump. Is there are others whom feel that way. Whether he actually does, may just not actually matter. He can play to his audience, getting votes from the delusional. Of course the question is whether the is enough of the delusional to get a majority? You can tell the delusional because they are lacking the ability to accept what is the reality. In spit of the fact that President Obama was the President in office when Bin Laden was killed. (Man I am listening to Jim Croce on the CD player… my ears are in heaven!) It does not matter, he is still that Moslem pretender!

Even trough he is a professed Baptist, LOL now is that not just as bad! Please do not judge all of us by Terry Fox! Politics,,, the game of denial of the sun light at noon!

  3. I know this has nothing to do with politics but it is just as sick, if not more sick, as Trump being a nominee for president.

(from the link): A group of ultra-conservative Christian men are planning to meet up in Kansas later this year to arrange marriages for their pubescent daughters … and they don’t believe their daughters’ consent is actually necessary.

Quiverfull patriarch, Vaughn Ohlman, who runs a website promoting early, “fruitful” marriage for Truly True Christian™ children, has announced plans for a “Get Them Married!” retreat where fundamentalist fathers will find, and TAKE, suitably submissive young brides to bear many babies for their adolescent sons.

The weekend retreat, which will be held in Wichita this coming November, is “designed to bring together like-minded families (and their unmarried young men and women) who are committed to young, fruitful marriage and to help them overcome the barriers which have kept their children unmarried.”

For around $1200 per family, Quiverfull parents will spend three days “networking” with similarly-delusional zealots who believe men are to be in charge, wives are to be submissive baby-makers, and children are to be sheltered, isolated, indoctrinated, and pushed toward early, prolific marriages for Jesus.

As a father of four beautiful daughters, I totally agree that such values and these resulting plans are horrible and unacceptable. However, I also believe that such values exist, today, because of this society and it’s acceptance of conservatism as a prudent value. Conservatism was based upon the principles of conservation, but that’s not what it is today. Today, conservatism is merely a rejection of all progressive values, even those taught by Jesus. Today, Conservatism and Capitalism are “mean and selfish;” and that is really all they are. Can any of you name any “good or righteous” attributes for either of them?

But I see something else going on here

I see this movement as Kristians (I refuse to use the letter C for these folks) who desperately believes in the Holy War where their Jesus will need his warriors to fight the evil Muslims.

So – in reality – the baby making is to provide warm bodies for the bloody war.

And in the meantime – the more babies you make, the more thousands in your tax refund check you will collect.

fnord – didn’t you tell us last year of the year before about some religious family that lived in your neighborhood that numerous children and their means of income was the government payouts and/or the kindness of the church folks around them?

But this movement takes it to an entirely different level – these girls are young – and getting younger all the time.

Can you imagine the outrage if this was being done by some group of black people – and charging $1200 a pop?

NOW that is something else entirely…

And the real Trump emerges …don’t look behind that curtain – said the Great and Powerful Oz

  5. Thunderchild

Hmmm behind in my activism, distracted by life and boggled by tech. Need to do some more reading here to find out who is still active.

  6. Thunderchild

but I am pleased to find Stevens blog still alive.

    • indypendent

Steven was a special person – wasn’t he?

I never had the pleasure to meet Steven in person but from what he wrote on the blog – and his kindness in mailing me a book and not wanting any money for it – shows what type of person Steven truly was.

Wherever humans go in the afterlife – I’m sure Steven and Wicked are both having a good time watching us on his blog.

We are a small group – but we are loyal to one another.

    • Hello, stranger, good to see you around.

Like Indy said, small but loyal. This will always be a place where we can find each other.

  7. Thunderchild

The Wichita Eagle was stupid to severely restrict and ultimately discontinue the WEblog. It was about the only POPULAR thing it had going for it. Their loss. Now the “local” paper isn’t even local.

Soooo…what is left of the left that was such a force for good in a right wing State? Do I read correctly that Wicked is no longer with us? I feel bad for not remembering her WEblog name. She was the romance novel writer yes? And a damn fine fighter. And not much older than me….what happened?
I was among the younger of the WEblog vets. And Indy I can tell you that Steven (Darwin’s Disciple, on WEblog) was a kind and caring man in real life and a fair but FIERCE warrior against the right. That his blog survives him with people he never got to meet is testament to that.

Damn I miss the fight. But I live in Kansas, so, the fight was always pretty much hopeless for a liberal like me.Maybe Steven learned that and that is why he gave us this place to visit one another?
So….spare me scrolling through years of history here I missed. Who is left from the Left of the old days here?

    • She died of lung cancer January 17, 2015. She didn’t live long after diagnosis. It still hurts and makes me so damned angry when I know the lack of health insurance is why she didn’t have a chance. She put it down to asthma. Indy and I went to her memorial service. She was well loved and left her four daughters, grandchildren, many who still think of her often and miss her.

    • We haven’t heard from PrairiePond (farmgrl) in several months. My heart aches from missing her. It’s pretty much Indy and me. Bob White is here fairly regularly. Vaughn, RD and gster stop by. Maybe they check in more often than they post. It’s a ghost town here. Facebook took most people — I read and discuss with Cap’n, CF2K, Jammer, Mary Caruso, Political Mom, Shane (can’t for the life of me remember his nic), Ben Huie, RJ … I know I’m leaving some out on Facebook regularly.

      • indypendent

How can I join this FB group?

      • I could recommend you as a friend to each of them. It’s really not a “group.” it’s just that all of them have a Facebook page and are ‘friends’ on Facebook. I thought you didn’t “do” Facebook?

      • indypendent

I don’t do FB – but was interested in joining your group when you mentioned it.

    • For sure Steven saw the newspaper was failing, and he did give us this place where we can always find each other. What a great man!

  8. Thunderchild

I met Wicked (still mad at myself I dont remember her Weblog nic) several times. Don’t remember if she smoked.

I still do. Gives me pause…

Sounds like so much for Obamacare. I’ve had no luck with it either. There is work I cannot dare to do these days for fear of injuries that may not be covered. Thanks Obama.

But I did not come to fight.

If you are not hearing from Sandra (Farmgrrl, PrairiePond) this is worrisome. She is not the type to drop out of sight. I will do some looking, even though I am afraid for what I will find…

It’s true, facebook and twitter killed the blogs. And I am not good at either. Time marches on I suppose, but I doubt the level of prose and rhetoric (from not just the left but SOME on the right) is anywhere near what it used to be. In fact, I KNOW this because Donald FREAKING Trump is a serious candidate for President!

And a handful of old nics I remember! Guess they adapted better than me. I am glad they are well and still in the fight. Tell them all JR/ Bluejay is well and says hi, and keep up the fight!

    I’ll be around.

    • indypendent

Drop in when you can – and we’ll be here. Keep up the Good Fight…

    • Did Rox use predestined at WEBlog? Maybe not quite it, but I think it started with a P … I got to know her well enough that I thought of her as Rox and kinda ignored the ‘nic.’ I’m getting so old.

    • Rox was a victim of Brownback and the republicans in Kansas who refuse to expand Medicaid, not Obamacare.

      • indypendent

But….but…fnord – Brownback and his Republican buddies are all Loud-n-Proud Kristians. They only refused to expand Medicaid because they did not want to make people dependent on that evil government.

Don’t you understand – they only did it because they truly cared about her..

Big Eye roll.. and a lot of sarcasm thrown in

        WWJD

These Kristian Preacher Boys and Televangelists all seem to preach how Jesus was a Capitalist and Jesus wants everyone to be wealthy.

Hmmm…..is that why Jesus healed the sick for free? Can you imagine the profit Jesus could have made if he charged for his healing?

And what about that special talent Jesus had when he raised Lazarus from the dead?

WOW – just imagine the huge profits from that…

BTW – Jesus also fed the hungry – for free.

Wouldn’t our country be a much different place if these Kompassionate Kristian Konservatives followed the teachings of the true Jesus?

Rox WAS predestined and I think also Roxanne Delaney.

I went looking for Sandra (farmgrrl) and found nothing. But she lives or lived in a very rural area, even in the age of the internet, that makes a search tough….
Gay marriage is a fact now. And now even transgendered have gained some traction. I have a stream friend who is fighting this battle.

I am sad to say that I think that Sandra would be very active now. The fact that she is not not makes me fear for her….

but I could be wrong. I’ll keep looking…

Get me a link to the last of her posts here, I cant find them and it might help.
You can look too. As far as I know she was Sandra Stenzl and lived in Trego county Kansas.

She was like my big little sister. And if she is still out there we are GOING to find her.

  11. I called today. I got a recording (in her voice!) and left a message. Damn, it was good to hear her voice! 🙂

    • indypendent

Maybe she’s been busy and time got away from her – I know that happens to me a lot lately.

With three grandkids to watch during the week – the things I want to accomplish seems like a ‘wish list’ that never gets done.

  12. Thunderchild

An active answering machine on a land line WOULD be good news. If that is your contact. Land line bills must be paid and answering machines need power paid Voicemails to cellphones not so much.. I can’t say because I’m outta the blog thing far longer than her and she is older than me. The last you link me from her shows no sign she is quitting. But life is life. Things happen.

If I know Sandra like I THINK I do, you will hear back, if she is able.

    I’ll keep watching and looking.
