  1. Sometimes it is you just have to fight for the share you want or will be happy with. Many battle have came from my going to Sonic in the mornings for a Coke and Breakfast Burro. I am a lazy cook and not good at it. Besides if that is what makes me happy who then should say I should forgo it? I fight for it and others do not have to go without for my effort. But one has to be reasonable, you should not own everything which mean you have to take everything away for others.

    • You have more wisdom from life’s lessons in your little pinky finger than most people will ever know!

    • What I am seeing in the past few years is this attitude of – I don’t want that guy ‘over there’ to get anything.

It’s not even the fact these Tea Party/Evangelical Conservative Republicans particularly want the thing being given out – it is the fact they don’t want the other guy to get it.

That goes beyond selfishness and even greed – IMHO

      • I see that too, Indy. It smells like evil, walks like evil, sounds like evil…

I can ignore / accept / tolerate most anything. I can’t accept people with mean spirits — people who simply want to hurt another person, people who judge another as being unworthy… Guess what? that’s what I see in today’s evangelinuts and many of today’s conservative republicans.

  2. This is an interesting piece, it’s short, and IMO worth the time spent —

(from the link): Then, in 2008, something truly remarkable happened. Greasy little snake-oil salesmen like Mike Huckabee realized that if you run for president on a platform of fetuses and Jesus, you can make so much money that you’ll have to buy wheelbarrows to carry it all away. It doesn’t matter if you’re facing certain defeat; quack the proper crap, and the segment of the population who thinks dinosaurs never existed because they aren’t mentioned in the Bible will vacuum up quarters from between the couch cushions and send them to you. Combined with the vast cash coming in from the big-money donors, it’s better than winning the lottery.

In 2008, the Republicans had some fairly heavyweight contenders. Romney, Giuliani … but Mike Huckabee stayed in the race, and stayed in the race, and stayed in the race even though he knew the exercise was a fool’s errand. In primary after primary, he pulled 25 percent of the vote, slicing the hamstrings of the major candidates by sucking up the votes from the no-dinosaurs-because-Jesus people, until he eventually ran the other contenders off the road, and John McCain won the nomination by default … and then picked Sarah Palin as a running mate, and the rest is sadly hilarious history.

How to Run for President for Fun and Profit: 2016 Edition

    • I’ve always considered Mike Huckabee as the ‘Wannabe Bill Clinton’.

Both Mike and Bill are from the same town – Hope, Arkansas.

Bill Clinton went on to become one of America’s most popular presidents. I suspect if Bill could run again – he would easily win the White House – again.

And this is the fact that KILLS the Republicans.

Bill Clinton played his saxophone on television during the campaign – remember?

Mike Huckabee fancies himself to be a talented guitarist. IIRC – Mike even played guitars with Ted Nugent when filming his television show on Foxxies Hen House Cluck Fest channel.

      But you know what?

For all the envy that Mike Huckabee has for Bill Clinton – Mike will NEVER be as popular as Bill with the entire country and there is one main reason.

Mike only throws red meat to his known audience. Bill Clinton had the unique ability to reach across the divide and try to find something in common with EVERYONE.

As for examples of Clinton’s ability to reach across the divide – Bill has worked with Daddy Bush for several years – and both men have said they enjoy the working relationship.

You see – Mike Huckabee is a part of that Evangelical Christian Crowd that truly believes they are better than ‘that guy over there’. And these folks use their twisted version of the Bible to justify feeding their inferiority complex.

Bill Clinton is not a perfect man – nor was he a perfect president. But I dare question – who is perfect?

What I do know about Bill Clinton is that he has done good work when he was president and has continued to do good work after his presidency.

What the hell good has Mike and his Evangelical Christians done in America and/or the world?

These are the folks that desire the upcoming Holy War and they will stop at nothing until they succeed in sending other people’s loved ones to do the actual dying and being wounded for life.

      • Another former president that has done good work throughout the world is Jimmy Carter.

NOW – that man was the true Christian in the White House. And who the hell conspired with Jerry Falwell to get Carter out of office?

Can you say Ronnie Raygun – I know you can…

  3. Remember our old friend, CF2K? His Facebook post this morning reads:

“thinks you all ought to pay attention to the Republican shit show in Kansas. Because if Hillary or whomever loses in 2016, we’re ALL going to be Kansans.”

I’m almost positive he is right!

  4. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sf/national/2015/05/06/mike-huckabee-is-this-folksy-showman-willing-to-get-meaner/

If the question is can Mike Huckabee get meaner – I suspect there is no depth in the sewer level that this guy is not willing to go if it gets him what he wants.

I fail to see how so many people view this guy as some folksy guy who is such a joy to be around.

Maybe it’s just me and my cynicism showing again?

    • Besides – just read this article about how this mega church was transformed into something I would NOT call a church crowd.

I wonder if Jesus would be up there in all his boxy suit and hawking the same crappola that Mike is trying to sell?

  5. I found this is the comments section of a piece published in the Kansas City Star. I’ll link it, but I don’t know whether there is or isn’t a firewall. Guess I got there without paying so maybe you can to. The man who made this comment has wisdom to share. I wish everyone who wants to follow Christ’s teachings would ponder this wisdom.

    ————————-

The Separation Of Church And Hate:

There is a good reason why Church and State must always remain separate. Let’s get something straight, right from the start: A theocratic state is not a free state, and never will be. I’m sure it was never Jesus’ intention nor His will, that anyone should be dominated in His name, the name of Christ. That is the will of men. To be accurate, the concept in itself is anti-Christian. You can only follow Christ by choice, not by legislation.

It seems some people are more intent on casting stones at perceived sinners than propagating the love of Christ. ~ “Above all else, I command you love one another”. ~ This was the message that Jesus preached, and as far as I can see, the worth of a soul will only be measured as such. But I can assure you of one thing, when your time of judgment comes, you won’t be asked to recite scripture, but rather, if anything, the question will be; did you get the message and live by it?

For all of you people out there on the religious right, you should try to remember that looking for sins to condemn, and people to persecute in the name of God, is just Satan’s way of keeping you from seeing what is good and praiseworthy. It’s Satan’s favorite means of deceit; getting people to hate and kill each other in the name of Jesus and God. Twisting scripture to incite hatred and division.

Understand this; that by doing so, you are defaming the name of Christ, associating Jesus with bigotry and hate. Jesus was never cursed with these feelings, these sins that you commit in His name. It’s widely agreed that He rose above it all, and to use His name for the justification of spreading contempt and hatred for anyone is true heresy. It isn’t Pro-Christ by any means, but clearly Anti-Christ.

    • When the Bible tells us to not take the Lord’s name in vain – I believe this is not about cursing or saying the words God – damn.

Rather – I think taking the Lord’s name in vain is when people intentionally set out to use the name of God or Jesus in order to enhance their own agenda – ie making a lot of tax free money or to amass power.

Jesus taught by example by living and walking among the outcasts of society.

Can you imagine any of these huge mega Evangelical Churches even willing to allow someone they deem as unworthy to step one foot into their beautiful gold-blinged man-made shrines to themselves?
