  1. When have Republicans ever really supported our troops?

    Seriously…..tell me when?

Republicans are users and users do not care what happens to those folks they use.

And not only in providing health care to the wounded veterans or to pay our troops enough money so they do not have to get food stamps to feed their families.

I am thinking about what George W. Bush and his War Buddies did to the memory of Pat Tillman.

Remember the made-up story we were told about how Pat Tillman died? That was done simply for recruiting purposes – IMHO

Or the way Bush and Boys handled the Jessica Lynch story – remember? And these are just two examples of how Bush and Boys sat back here in the safety zone of America’s borders and just made stuff up so they could push even more innocent Americans into joining the military so they could provide fresh meat for the Bush and Boys War Machine.

That is NOT supporting our troops – and it is certainly NOT the way to honor anyone’s memory nor to bring honor to America.

And I don’t hear one word of condemnation from any Republicans.

So, I ask again, when have Republicans ever really supported our troops?

    • The biggest way Bush and Boys dishonored America was the one they intentionally sent us to war on false pretenses.

And yet we still see Republicans – especially these Evangelical Christians – still sing the praises of Bush and Boys.

Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness (ie lying) is one of the Ten Commandments – which is the only part of the Bible that even these Evangelicals claim was written by the hand of God.

    • I still remember when I spoke to my son and point blank said that Iraq was for the oil. He shook his head and said ” I and we knew that dad.”. He saw friends and fellow soldiers die over there.

      • Sad to say – RD – even when some people know the truth, they will still sit there and defend the S.O.B.’s that lied to us about the Iraq War.

I do want to tell you something – when I criticize how our elected officials beat the war drums – and usually over oil or some other natural resources in the foreign country – I am not criticizing any of our military soldiers.

Well – some of these damn generals need to be criticized. I mean, seriously, when it came out that Petraeus had a mistress and she was the one that spilled the beans about the CIA having a base at Benghazi (was that common knowlege?). And that other general in Afghanistan had a party planner on his speed dial.

Seroiusly? a party planner on speed dial. Where was the next party going to be general – next to the hell hole in direct fire of the Islamists trying to kill us?

Yeah – I’ll bring the chips because I see the DIP is already planning the damn party.

And what’s with these numerous generals retiring with pensions that out of this world – but yet the average military soldier’s pay qualifies him/her to get food stamps?

Something is very wrong with our priorities….

    • Asher Bob White

      Indy,
I see the only distinction in “supporting our troops” among Republicans as between the traditional Republican Party of Lincoln, Teddy and Ike as compared to today’s Republican Party of Nixon, Reagan, GW Bush, V-P Dick Cheney, Senate Leader McConnell and Speaker Boehner: all of the latter who will join the many other immoral historical political leaders.

      • You’re probably correct.

Kinda like the way I view Christianity. With today’s Mega Corporate Country Club Churches blaspheming the name of Jesus every time they build yet another gawdy and tacky huge monument to themselves – it makes me angry to know there are truly some good, moral Christians that live their lives according to Jesus’ teachings but these folks are not the one out doing the cock-strut dancing….

  2. Just saw this sad news – Meshach Taylor died from cancer.

I remember when the show ‘Designing Women’ first aired. My son was only about 7 at the time and he loved the show. There was something about Meshach’s character Anthony Bouvier that made my son laugh.

I have been watching reruns of this show for the past two weeks. If you don’t remember this show – it was four women from Atlanta Georgia who are interior decorators and they hired Anthony Bouvier (an ex-convict) as their helper employee.

The chemistry between all the characters was the key to that show.
Plus, I always loved watching Dixie Carter – the one that played Julia Sugarbaker – she was the one that was more politically outspoken.

This show was about four business WOMEN and how they could be successful in business, independent and still be classy women.

What is so wrong with this idea?

But I digress – it always saddens my heart to see another person fall victim to cancer.

    ———
Tomorrow is the day we hear the SCOTUS ruling on the Hobby Lobby case.

I would not be a bit surprised if Hobby Lobby wins this case – and then watch all these Fake-N-Bake Evangelical Christians go bat shit crazy (or crazier?) because they are convinced that God has given them victory over that black man – a secret Muslim – in the White House.

I can just hear it now……

      ——

Here is another case that should be ruled on tomorrow.

A national right-to-work law – is that something we really want to see happen?

      • Absolutely not what I want to see happen, but that one will go against unions, against workers and come down squarely on the side of business. I have no doubt this court will rule in favor of corporations — they’ve already shown me their hand on this subject and they left no question how they’ll rule.

      • I think it is safe to say that the working people will once again be shafted by the elitist Fake-n-Bake Christians on the SCOTUS

IMHO – these folks are not even that good at being Fake-n-Bake

    • I also think it’s very possible, maybe probable, that this ‘conservative’ court will allow Hobby Lobby the right to discriminate on religious grounds. It not only lets people act “in the name of whatever they believe in,” but it maintains some control over women which is another ‘conservative’ value.

Abortions won’t stop or even be curtailed. In fact, available contraception is the very most effective way to prevent unwanted pregnancies and thus abortion. I hope we don’t see an increase in the number of women dying. That article about the pill that brings back the period (the one we both found yesterday) gives me some hope. I didn’t know about it, I hope young women do.

This poll finds that 35 percent agree that corporations have the right to exclude contraception from their health care plans.

I know SCOTUS is to follow the rue of law and should not follow the opinion of the people – but show me where in the Constitution does it say a corporation is a person?

And the SCOTUS has already shown us they believe corporations are people with all the guaranteed rights of an American citizen.

Okay – if a corporation is a person – then precisely when did God form that corporation in a womb?

After all – if we are going to follow these Evangelical Christians into this logic – then let’s put corporations into the litmus test of the Bible wherein it states that God knows us before we were formed in the womb.

Does any Evangelical Christian have an answer to my question? Which womb did this corporation come from?

      • While we’re talking about God and the Bible – there is also reference that God made man in his own image.

So – then – does this mean God is a corporation?

Well that certainly explains all those huge mega church country clubs and some with inside swimming pools.

      • What is so ironic is that this pill is sold for the treatment of ulcers. Cytotec – I saw that name come across my desk many times during my employment at that pharmacy.

But I really wonder is ….. who is keeping this as a black market medication to induce abortions? Can you imagine the obscene profit that any capitalist could make?

While I was watching the news today about the overwhelming unaccompanied kids crossing our borders – the thought popped into my head.

Liberals look at this problem and says – what can I do to help.
Conservatives look at this same problem and says – how can I make money off this.

That right there sums up my feelings about the Republican Conservatives.

I truly believe these CONS would stomp on their own dead mother’s body to get that dime from her clenched fist.

      • BTW – those CONS would also never show any shame or even embarrassment for their behavior.

In fact – they would turn around and try to blame the Liberals for their actions.

  4. http://news.msn.com/us/obama-to-seek-dollar2-billion-for-border-control

    —–

Obama will ask Congress for $2 billion for border control. NOW let’s see how the Republicans react.

It’s time Obama puts everything back in their stinkin’ laps – to make them take a stand and let the entire country see their true colors.

Like I said above – the only time any Republican acts is when they have figured out the way to make themselves a tidy profit….

Isn’t this why Republicans love to start wars? They get to send other peoples’ loved ones to do the actual dying and getting wounded – while these Republicans make a lot of money…

      ——

Obama has asked Congress for $500 million to help aid the Syrian moderates..

Hmmm…..if Republicans okay this $500 million for Syrians – then refuse to give Obama any money to help the border problem – then what does that say about Republicans being so concerned about our national security?

Oh, I forgot, the border problem involves kids and we all know how Republicans feel about kids….especially foreign kids from ‘those people’.

I jus wonder how much profit is being made by these coyotes and/or smugglers that are being paid to bring this kids across the border?

And if we all know this is going on – then why is there not a push to arrest and prosecute these coyotes and/or smugglers?

Oh, I forgot the cardinal rule of Republican 101, money comes before people.

One has to wonder if there are any Republican businesses getting a kickback from these coyotes and/or smugglers on supplying fresh meat for the exploitation of cheap labor?

    • This map and article is interesting reading. One might think from all the loud yelling and screaming done by Evangelical Christians about being so persecuted for their religious beliefs – that Christianity would not have a 77 percent piece of the religious pie in America.

Wow – 77 percent is more than enough to win any elections – so why aren’t these Evangies who are yelling and screaming the loudest the ones doing the actual winning at general political elections?

Could it be due to the fact that these yelling and screaming Evangies are the radical Christians – much like the radical Islams are to the Muslims?

      Could be……could be….

  5. I know it is not this simple, but there is also a valid point to this:

A worried woman went to her gynecologist and said:

‘Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help! My baby is not even 1 year old and I’m pregnant again. I don’t want kids so close together.’

So the doctor said: ‘Ok and what do you want me to do?’

She said: ‘I want you to end my pregnancy, and I’m counting on your help with this.’

The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady: ‘I think I have a better solution for your problem. It’s less dangerous for you too.’

She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.

Then he continued: ‘You see, in order for you not to have to take care of 2 babies at the same time, let’s kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we’re going to kill one of them, it doesn’t matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms.’

The lady was horrified and said: ‘No doctor! How terrible! It’s a crime to kill a child!’

‘I agree’, the doctor replied. ‘But you seemed to be OK with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.’

The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point.

He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that’s already been born and one that’s still in the womb. The crime is the same!

    If you agree, please SHARE.

Together we can help save precious lives!

Love says, ‘I sacrifice myself for the good of the other person.’ Abortion says, ‘I sacrifice the other person for the good of myself

    • I agree! Valid point and not that simple. Contraception goes a long ways towards eliminating this situation. Why are republicans fighting against contraception? Is it all part of their plan to ‘control’ women?

    • But what is left out in that story is one fact – where the man that impregnated this woman?

But – then again – how many abortions are really performed because the mother does not want a second child so close to the first?

Does anyone know what the statistics are for the reasons for abortions?

Pro Life supporters like to point out a story such as the one R.D. posted – but that is not the entire story – IMHO

I agree with fnord – contraception use should be encouraged so no woman has to feel she needs to make that choice to have an abortion.

I don’t know about you – but my God has given me a brain with which to use – and if science can create a pill to prevent pregnancy when I was not ready to be pregnant – then praise the fact that God created scientists..

      • What I see as a sad commentary in our country is that we have had this never-ending debate (sometimes with doctors being killed and clinics being blown up ) and we are no closer to coming to grips with resolving this issue than the day Roe v Wade was decided.

The best way to not need an abortion is using contraception.

Which is why it still baffles me as to why so many people are looking towards the Catholic Church ruled by men wearing robes and who were the leaders in that group that knowingly made the choice to cover up fellow priests who were molesting children.

Somehow that just does not make any sense to me – why listen to robed men who allowed child molesters to continue to harm children already born and be so adamant against contraception?

Is child molestation a less sin that using birth control? Seems to me, the Catholic Church seems to think so..

    • Really hope she wins in TX.

    • This is the real issue to me – Republicans who profess to be against government intervention and government over reach and yet have no problem with that same government getting into every woman’s vagina.

I keep asking Republicans the same question – if you want to make birth control and abortion illegal – then what should the punishment be for committing those two crimes?

If you’re not willing to publicly state what you think these women should receive as punishment for those crimes, then let’s stop playing this game – shall we?

I suspect the reason none of these Republicans will publicly state what the punishment should be is because they may be arrogant and ignorant – but even these Neanderthals know NOT to say women should be executed for having an abortion or for taking birth control.

Maybe just 20 lashes with a radical Islamists whip will suffice for these Fake-N-Bake Fundy Christian Republicans??
