  1. It was all so much easier back then. Or was it? Originalists need to remember the early days of the republic were wonderful if you were white, male and landed. Otherwise? Not so much. I guess that’s why old, rich white guys want to go back to those days. They didn’t have to worry about pesky voters like women, African-Americans, native Americans, and the poor among others.

Funny, these days it seems white rich guys are the ones saying “dude, I want my country back!”

    Well, you can’t have it!

    • Oh so correct! None of us — not minorities, not the poor and not women — are going to sit idly by and behave like second-class citizens. It really hasn’t been all that long ago that we earned these rights we still have to fight to keep.

I’m not smart enough to know the ins and outs of constitutional arguments. Maybe 6176 will honor us with some wisdom on this topic of those who see this document as ‘living,’ vs. those who do not.

As far as disagreements and differences of opinion, here’s a blog post from Richard Crowson titled, Opinions, Opinions.”

I always try to convince myself that when I’m faced with new input I’m willing to reevaluate my opinions. The truth is probably that I learned I don’t have to attend every argument I’m invited to.

  2. Yes, stoopid still has a political party and they still refer to themselves as “grand,” but all the rest of us can be armed with truth and facts. Oh, and don’t waste time with that political party of stoopid — they’re shrinking and don’t have a clue. Work towards a future, let them go backwards all by themselves.

The 47 (now 43) percent, in one quick video

The share of people paying no income taxes has fallen from 47 percent to 43.3 percent. And of those left, 28.9 percent pay payroll tax, 9.7 percent are elderly, and 3.4 percent earn less than $20,000. Only 1.3 percent don’t pay income or payroll taxes and are neither elderly nor poor.

  5. wicked

I spent a large portion of the morning on Huffpost’s Religion page. What fine display of bigotry over an Anglican Church sign in Ontario, CA that read: JESUS HAD TWO DADS AND HE TURNED OUT JUST FINE!

Church Sign Has AMAZING Message For Christian Homophobes

The comments were predominantly pro-LGBT, but now and then, some brainless twerp would step up and start an uproar. I laughed several times and never did get through all of the 12 pages of comments. Seriously, some people need to get over themselves.
