  1. Isn’t that the damn truth? Walmart and their execs rake it in while taxpayers subsidize the wages and health care of their employees. That’s not the fault of the employees, but a corporation that revels in free trade internationally, and then pockets the profits and leaves taxpayers holding the bag for facilities and employee benefits.

And don’t even get me started on big ag, big pharma, big banking, etc.

    • Yep. The International Workers of the World was the first international union. To my mind, we will need many of those. The obstacles of course are repressive governments (including those that enable corporate repression), and Internet censorship. And money.

But I think it’s at least one mandatory part of an overall strategy to hit back.

P.S. Was going to note the crazy high temps in AZ today and this weekend, but I see Wichita, with a heat index of 112 (coincidentally, our high today) and looming nasty storms, wins).

And how is your neck of the woods, prairiepond? đŸ™‚

      • Hi Zippy! It’s hot and dry. Dryer than you can imagine. This is the fifth year of the drought for us and 70 year old trees, including cedar trees, are dying all over the countryside. Creeks are dry, fields are dry, and for the third year in a row, my cattle guys will be feeding feed in July since the pastures are gone. It’s a desperate situation.

But other than that, Mrs. Lincoln….

    • Today’s corporation s are nothing more than the old plantation owners and their exploited slave labor.

But one big difference – at least the plantantion owners had to house, feed and clothe their slaves.

Corporate Fat Cats like the Koch Boys get their Tea Pots about these welfare ‘takers’ but yet refuse to let the world see what is really going on behind their Wizard of Oz green curtain.

And many of them get government subsidies, too. Unregulated large corporations are very bad news for both the common good and the public interest. And they should pay progressive income taxes on all their earnings. (basic econ 1)

    • Agreed, Bob. It’s like we’ve forgotten what a progressive tax structure is and why it was implemented.

      • I suspect these Corporate Fat Cats know exactly what they are doing…..they have not forgotten – but they are dumbing down enough of their minions so that they will not even know what a progressive tax structure is…
