  1. He not only won reelection, he is still black. He isn’t one of them and the teavangeligun nuts continue their hissy fits. They look and sound childish at best.

Republicans serve their master, the bottom line — wealth and power is their only metric of success, and everyone knows only a select few white men are to be in control and all others are to be exploited to serve the corporate whims. feeding their ever-more-voracious appetite. The CORPORATION is to be revered, protected from paying one red cent of taxes. They are the Almighty JOB CREATORS who give all the teavangeligun nuts promise of attaining upward mobility

    • I don’t think these Teavangelicons even want to be wealthy -themselves – they just want to be able to be on ‘the team’ that is telling everyone else what to do – how to do it and who to do with it..

It’s all about control with the average Teavangelicon – IMHO. But, if there is money to be made – they will be more than happy to roll naked in that big pile of money…..

Ewwww……now that is a mental picture I could live without…

      • I do think they want to be wealthy and I think they ignore how their masters treat them because they’re so besotted with the possibility of wealth.

      • You may be right…. if your mega preacher tells you that Jesus commands you to give in order to be ‘blessed’ ie wealthy – then these folks are giving just to enrich themselves?

So this logic kinda blows that story of the widow’s mite out of the water – huh?

I worked with that Betty Bible and she was constantly telling us how much she gave to the church that Sunday.

If you’re bragging about how much you gave – then did you truly ‘give’ or did you just hand over money in order to get bragging rights?

There is a big difference – IMHO

    • Bob White

Well put, fnord! Now I remember why I Iike this site so very much and read it just about everyday.

  2. We all that one television show that we consider as our ‘guilty pleasure’ – don’t we?

Well, mine is RuPaul’s Drag Race on Monday nights.

I found this show quite by accident a few years ago – and I have watched it ever since.

I’m not a fanatic fan of anything (sports, television, movies, etc) – but I do find a few things that I really like – and RuPaul is in that category.

If you don’t know the format to this show – it is a group of drag queens that compete to win the top prize of $100,000 and other stuff. These men are quite talented and every one of them looks better when in drag than most women I’ve known.

But – it’s their personal stories that draws me into this show so much. Some do have supportive families – but for the most part, their families have turned their back on them. But yet they still continue on………..

When you think about it —- RuPaul is exactly the type of success story that Republicans claim is their particular ‘cup of tea’.

RuPaul has taken his talents and built quite a sizable business.

But RuPaul does something that the likes of Romney and his Gang of GOP CONS don’t do – RuPaul helps others along the way.

While watching the show last night – my husband asked me if I had heard Margaret Thatcher died.

Then it hit me – like a lightning bolt.

Margaret Thatcher could have been Ronald Reagan in drag……

We both had a good laugh and then after RuPaul’s Drag Race was finished – we turned the t.v. over to MSNBC and heard all about Margaret Thatcher.

And, you know what, that Margaret was a mean-spirited thing ….wasn’t she? And for her economic policies – DAMN if she did not do exactly what Reagan did – destroyed the middle class!!!

    • BTW – RuPaul has a saying that he finishes the show with and it goes like this :

If you can’t love yourself, how the hell are you going to love somebody else? Can I get an Amen up in here….

That shows the difference between RuPaul and other successful businessmen – RuPaul actually cares about people.

Republicans only care about the bottom line……..

    • They both made a lasting impression. 😦

  3. LOL it is religions and faith is the topic for today on my blog… I am so going to P.O. some and others will like it. Sadly some I have the feeling will be whom I was talking about and would use it the next time they are on the TV>

  4. I just heard about this new controversy this morning on the news. I also heard that Brad Paisley was ‘called out’ by some on Twiter for playing at President Obama’s Inauguration.

    Seriously, folks, —————— Seriously???

    I guess I just don’t get it…..

    http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/entertainment/2013/04/brad-paisley-on-his-song-accidental-racist-its-not-a-stunt/

    • Here’s a serious question….

If you were a performer and was asked to play at the White House – would you decline the offer just because you did not support the president’s political party?

I remember a time when an invitation to perform at the White House was considered an honor…… I guess those days are gone now because we are so deeply divided by partisan politics?

      • What is different from past presidents? That’s correct, this man is black. Every day we hear complaints about what used to be accepted or ignored. One thing, and only one thing, is different.

        Jesus wept.

      • What is so pathetic is when these same TeaEvangelicons loudly protest they are not racists – but yet we continue to hear about racist emails and derogatory comments about not just President Obama – but now they’re after Michelle and his two daughters.

        Enough already!!!

BTW – if you have to scream at me that you’re not a racist….then who are you trying to convince – me or yourself?

      • I feel the same way when I see any bumper sticker about how much someone loves God..

Again – if you have to announce it to world in big bold print on your car….who are you trying to convince – me or yourself?

Or maybe these folks think God will be driving his Golden Chariot in traffic one day and will stop and give them a Gold Star?

      • With hat tip to PP – if God does pass out Gold Stars – I wonder if the extra special folks also get a pair of golden slippers?

Ah, but only the top dog gets the red leather slippers…..

  5. To the man who waited on me
At the Starbucks down on Main
    I hope you understand
When I put on that t-shirt
The only thing I meant to say
    Is I’m a Skynyrd fan

The red flag on my chest is somehow like the elephant
In the corner of the South
And I just walked him right in the room

    Just a proud rebel son
With an old can of worms
Looking like I’ve got a lot to learn
But from my point of view

    I’m just a white man
Coming to you from the Southland
Trying to understand what it’s like not to be
I’m proud of where I’m from
    But not everything we’ve done
And it ain’t like you and me to rewrite history
Our generation didn’t start this nation
We’re still picking up the pieces
    Walking over eggshells
    Fighting over yesterday
    And caught between southern pride
    And southern blame

    They called it Reconstruction
Fixed the buildings, dried some tears
We’re still sifting’ through the rubble
    After 150 years
I’ll try to put myself in your shoes
And that’s a good place to begin
It ain’t like I can walk a mile
    In someone else’s skin

‘Cause I’m just a white man
    Living in the Southland
Just like you, I’m more than what you see
I’m proud of where I’m from
    And not everything we’ve done
And it ain’t like you and me to rewrite history
Our generation didn’t start this nation
And we’re still paying for the mistakes
Than a bunch of folks made
    Long before we came
    Caught somewhere between southern pride
    And southern blame

    [LL Cool J]
Dear Mr. White Man, I wish you understood
What the world is really like when you’re living in the hood
Just because my pants are saggin’ doesn’t mean I’m up to no good
You should try to get to know me, I really wish you would
Now my chains are gold, but I’m still misunderstood
I wasn’t there when Sherman’s March turned the south into firewood
I want you to get paid, but be a slave I never could
Feel like a new-fangled Django dogging invisible white hoods
So when I see that white cowboy hat, I’m thinking it’s not all good
I guess we’re both guilty of judging the cover, not the book
I’d love to buy you a beer, conversate and clear the air
But I see that red flag and I think you wish I wasn’t here

    I’m just a white man
(If you don’t judge my do-rag)
Coming to you from the southland
(I won’t judge your red flag)
Trying to understand what it’s like not to be
I’m proud of where I’m from
(If you forget my gold chains)
    But not everything we’ve done
    (I’ll forget the iron chains)
It ain’t like you and me can rewrite history
    (Can’t rewrite history, baby)
    Oh, Dixieland
(The relationship between the Mason-Dixon needs some fixing’)
I hope you understand what this is all about
(Quite frankly, I’m a black Yankee, but I’ve been thinking about this lately)
I’m a son of the New South
(The past is the past, you feel me)
And I just want to make things right
    (Let bygones be bygones)
Where all that’s left is southern pride
(RIP Robert E. Lee, but I’ve gotta thank Abraham Lincoln for freeing me, know what I mean)
