  1. The Democratic resolution, obtained by The Huffington Post from a Democratic source on the Hill, argues that Cantor “stands to profit from U.S. treasury default, which thereby raises the appearance of a conflict of interest,” and that he “may be sabotaging [debt ceiling] negotiations for his own personal gain.”

“Majority Leader Cantor has compromised the dignity and integrity of the Members of the House by raising the appearance of a conflict of interest in negotiations with the executive branch over raising the debt ceiling,” adds the measure.’

‘The resolution goes after Cantor’s investment in ProShares Trust Ultrashort 20+ Year Treasury ETF, a fund that “takes a short position in long-dated government bonds.”

The fund is essentially a bet against U.S. government bonds. If the debt ceiling is not raised and the United States defaults on its debts, the value of Cantor’s fund would likely increase.

  2. I stand by my assessment of Cantor – he still reminds me of the best friend who is nailing your wife behind your back and then smirking at you the entire time.

This is a patriot? – to bet against the United States…

Only inthe bizarre world of Repulbicanistan….

  3. Little Eric looks like that infamous Waldo in the ‘Where’s Waldo’ pictures.

Maybe LIttle Eric will get lost one day in the background picture and never be found again?

That would be a dream come true…..

  4. The deal on the taxes could have been much worse. Imagine if Boehner and the House of clowns had agreed to the Obama — Boehner $4trillion “Grand Bargain” hammered out back when the republicans threw their hissy fit over raising the debt ceiling limit and ‘sequestration’ was invented. Obama gave away the farm in that deal and republicans walked away from it. They got a little instead of a lot. I’ll take this as a huge victory for middle-class Americans, and remember that Obama almost threw us under the bus back then.

The debt limit was raised 19 times during the George W. Bush presidency. These same yahoos who seem happy to bring our country’s economy to the brink of collapse now voted very differently then.

    • And let’s not forget – those same Republicans also applauded and happily gave free health care to the Iraqi people – while at the same time, these folks has totally tried to deny all Americans access to purchase health insurance – let alone get free healthcare.

      Why do Republicans HATE Americans?

Let’s look at what we have learned from this election:
Twenty-one of 22 incumbent senators were re-elected, and 353 of 373 incumbent members of the House were re-elected. The American people have re-elected 94 percent of the incumbents who were running for re-election to an institution that has an approval rating of about 9 percent. This indicates, as an electorate, we are a nation of idiots. We’re now stuck with the useless, dysfunctional government that we deserve.
    You can’t fix stupid…

  6. The debt limit was raised 19 times during the George W. Bush presidency

During the same George W. Bush presidency – 7 embassies were attacked, 20 people were killed and 51 wounded.

And all we hear about from Republicans is how Obama is to blame for the 4 Americans killed at Benghazi…..

The Land of Republicanistan consists of alot of folks who have selective memory.

  7. As long as Republicans tie everything they do and say to their hatred of Obama – their party will continue to be in freefall decline.

I, for one, am hoping for the impending implosion of the GOP any day now……

    • It’s the Tea Party that must be done in, and it’s up to republicans to accomplish that. The Tea Party ideologues who were elected in the 2010 mid-terms are doing a pretty good job of using the rope given them for the exact purpose it was intended. The damage they’ve already done and are capable of doing before their demise should be a concern to everyone.

      • Sad to say, but these Tea Party folks are the very ones who are now saying the Establishment GOP are the demons…..not the demons they look at when they look into a mirror.

Pass the popcorn……it’s going to be fun watching the GOP Circus Clown Car go careening off the cliff.

  8. As my husband and I were watching the House go through their political theatre last night – I told my husband that I hope and pray we do not have someone stupid enough to try to pull a JFK event.

But, then I remembered, we do have people that stupid as evidenced by the man that killed Dr. George Tiller while he was at his church service – and the convicted killer still has supporters – because these misguided folks view him as a hero for their cause.

If the worse does happen – then that civil war the Tea Party seems to crave will be ignited……but I don’t think the TP’ers will like the outcome….
