  1. In no state can a minimum wage worker afford a two-bedroom unit at fair market rent, working a standard 40 hour work week.

    Let that sink in.

I know I wrote about this last week, but given the fact posted above, anytime we subsidize housing (section 8 anyone?) we are actually subsidizing businesses who pay their employees less than a living wage. Minimum wage was never meant to be unlivable. We can’t outcheap labor in China and elsewhere. Those who want to abolish the minimum wage are also those who want to end housing subsidy, food subsidy, and whatever.

Face it. The way to truly end entitlement programs is for businesses to quit sitting on all their idle cash and pay living wages. But you’ll never hear that from those screaming to end entitlements AND the minimum wage.. They are shouting “let ’em eat cake.”

Oh what I wouldn’t give for an oldfashioned general strike. Too bad all the workers are too poor to afford it! Think that’s an accident?

I would like to know how many REpublicans are the landlords receiving those Section 8 housing subsidy checks in THEIR name?

You know, there are corporations in that game now – huge apartment complexes are going Section 8 – and why not, it’s guaranteed money.

So, I suspect when it comes right down to it – these Tea Party types will be leashed and collared by those Republicans who know how to use and abuse the existing system.

The killing of an unarmed black boy by public officials is not normally an unusual enough occurrence in America to warrant a national outcry. Graham’s shooting, which took place in his bathroom in the Bronx in full view of his six-year-old brother, made few front pages. This time, though, in conjunction with the Occupy Wall Street protesters and following a national call for a ‘million hoodie march’, young people have taken to the streets. They have done so in far greater, angrier numbers than were expected. The police can’t do anything about it. There are too many of them, and the crowd is lousy with cameras ready to get a shot of another New York police officer beating another child on a march against police brutality.

  3. Dick Cheney, opposed to gov’t-funded health care, just got a new heart thru gov’t-funded health care. You paid for it.

    His first I might add.

Do you think the donor was dead first or did ole dick pay someone to tear it from the chest while it was still beating?

Sigh. We should probably start booking odds that when the dickster croaks, it will be some evil, liberal, obama and obamacare plot that pulled the plug on this strappin’ man.

Never mind that he’s had heart disease most of his adult life.

When he croaks, I hope obama attends the funeral in a wheelchair so he doesn’t have to stand for the asshole.

Pay someone? Hell, his daughter Liz probably did it for pure pleasure. She’s a real chip off the ol’ block.

    • Hadn’t thought about that. Maybe dick shot the donor and Liz pulled the heart out with her bare hands. Sounds like that team of evil!

  5. On April 17, 2012, your 2011 federal income tax return is due to the IRS. Where did the federal government spend your income taxes during fiscal year 2011?

Federal income tax revenues totaled around $1.13 trillion in fiscal 2011, and this chart shows exactly where the federal government spent each one of those dollars:

    See chart here:

My religion forbids participating in enriching corporations at the expense of the poor. I wonder if I could please have the same religious freedom as the catholics and ask that my tax dollars not be spent to subsidize corporations. I want that part to stay with me and be withheld from my tax contributions!

  6. Gloria Steinem, who celebrates her 78th birthday today, has a message for women on why she thinks President Barack Obama is a strong advocate, and why we have to keep fighting for progress:

“He understands that women are absolutely full human beings. He has a good heart, a good mind, treats people with dignity, and represents the best in this country.”

Listen to all she has to say:

Speaking of Dick Cheney – that brought to mind the infamous Axis of Evil speech that The Little Cowboy President kept yammering about.

Let’s see – North Korea announced they had their first successful nuclear test on October 9, 2006 .

Hmmm, The LIttle Cowboy and his favorite DICK was in the White House in 2006 – weren’t they?

So, why are the Republicans NOT furious with Dubya and Dick for letting North Korea get nuclear weapons on THEIR watch?

Next time any Republican candidate spews the rhetoric that Obama is weak when it comes to Iran getting nuclear weapons – remind these buffoons of the date North Korea successfully tested their nuclear weapons. It was under the CON’s watch – NeoCons at that – so let’s put the blame where the blame belongs – on the lily white Elephants in the room and their puppet masters.

    • The Bush2 years didn’t happen.

Do you ever hear a republican bring up the Bush2 years? Never! They start their spin when someone else brings him up, but they avoid those years.

Worst part of this is that Mitten$ plan is to do exactly what Bush 2 did. Reduce taxes for the rich, eliminate regulations, wage war.

I can understand not wanting to talk about those Bush 2 years, but I can’t understand learning absolutely no lessons from them.

I know – but facts do not lie – even when these CONS keep trying to rewrite history.

But, Baby Bush did learn from the best CONS – Daddy Bush and Ronnie Raygun. Daddy Bush started the first Iraq War and Ronnie gave weapons to Iran – one part of that Axis of Evil – remember?

Wow – one would think that Republicans actually contributed to our current foreign terrorist problem if one actually thought about it…

I heard Kirk Cameron on the radio coming home from work tonight. This is the guy from Growing Pains that is now some big guru in the Evangelical Right Social Club Society.

Anyway – he made this movie about how America was founded on Christian principle and that the Pilgrims were just people that wanted to practice their religion without persecution.

Hey – I agree with the man about Americans should be able to practice their religion without persecution. But then he goes on and says he made this movie ‘ Monumental’ because the American people are seeing their freedom being taken away.

He then went on to say that all Americans , of every religion, should be agree with this movie because it is about their freedom.

But yet this movie is all about how the country is a Christian nation. So what if an American watching this movie is a Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist, Agnostic, Deist, Wiccan or any other religion – EXACTLY why would these people be applauding a bunch of Pilgrimns that want their country founded as a Christian nation?

What makes America great is the basic right to freedom of religion – even if that mean NO religion.

Why is that concept so damn hard to get through these Fundies’ heads?

    • Who understands bigotry? Is there any way to actually understand it?

I still remember being asked why I hated Jesus when I confronted that office supervisor who was one of those Evangelical Holier-than-thou types.

I was concerned about the doctor’s license and future when she, as his supervisor employee, told the entire office staff that this office is a Christian office, if you don’t like it – there’s the door.

I just blew a gasket…and let her have it. From that point on – I was known as thte Jesus Hater. A few of the employees followed her lead but most of the employees thanked me for standing up to her.

Bigotry is such a deep hate – and does it ever go away? Trouble is – bigotry comes in all different ways – religion, color, gender, sexual preference or just the fact that they don’t like the hoodie you’re wearing.

Mankind is capable of some very disturbing behavior……
