This quote from Santorum via Huffpost via Twitter:
“I don’t believe in an America where the separation of church and state are absolute”
My response? That’s great, Rick, but be prepared for each and every church–and minister/preacher/reverend/priest, etc.–no matter how big or small, to pay their full share of taxes.
What Santorum doesn’t want to understand–refuses to understand–is that once they start letting religion into government, the end of this country isn’t that far off.
Questions will be asked. Which religion will be the one on which laws will be made? Catholic? What about the Protestants? Will they be expected to live under the rules of the Vatican? Will money collected in a cathedral then be sent to Rome?
They just don’t seem to want to see the disaster this course could cause and that it’s the reason the Founding Fathers wanted that separation that these people wrongly believe wasn’t part of the original plan.
The next thing you know, people will be stoned, drowned, and hanged for their beliefs or perceived beliefs, just as “witches” were in this country in the late 1600s.
Religious people tend to turn on each other. If what Santorum wishes for should come to pass, he might want to keep a close watch over his shoulder, because even friends will turn when whipped to a frenzy.
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.
Republicans are getting queasy at the gruesome sight of their party eating itself alive, savaging the brand in ways that will long resonate.
“Republicans being against sex is not good,” the G.O.P. strategist Alex Castellanos told me mournfully. “Sex is popular.”
He said his party is “coming to grips with a weaker field than we’d all want” and going through the five stages of grief. “We’re at No. 4,” he said. (Depression.) “We’ve still got one to go.” (Acceptance.)
The contenders in the Hester Prynne primaries are tripping over one another trying to be the most radical, unreasonable and insane candidate they can be.
Oh, fnord, I think his wife did or will take care of that problem of his and the Virginia Commonwealth. 😉
The thing that came to my mind was that he definitely made his point. Women are NOT happy with bills like this. Only a small majority, brainwashed and manipulated by men, are in agreement, and even then I think that deep inside they know it’s wrong, but they live in fear, if not pure stupidity.
Just how much are the comments by and opinions Rudy Giuliani, Jeb Bush, Alan Simpson, and Arlen Spector heard by those who need to hear them? Who in the crazy basket cares what sane people say, as long as those they’re drooling over are telling them how to vote, feel and think?
Reagan did a huge disservice to this country when, as indy so often reminds us, he invited the Christian Right into our politics. The question now is, just how do we get them out? Or do we?

The race to the bottom continues!

IT’S finally sinking in.

And here’s that riotous Dave Albo video-gone-viral:
Seriously, I’m still laughing. LOLOLOL
Can you even believe a legislator would talk like this, behave like this in an official capacity?
He deserves ridicule. He deserves more than that, but ridicule seems a good first step.
Oh, fnord, I think his wife did or will take care of that problem of his and the Virginia Commonwealth. 😉

Albo’s wife should continue her bedtime routine and become the woman all Republican women live up to. 😉

Republicans Have Awoken A Sleeping Giant And She Is Furious
Precisely. 🙂
