  1. What I have found interesting about those Newt supporters is how quickly these folks start talkign about forgiveness and we are all sinners line of B.S. as the reason we should all give Newt a free pass on his infidelities and horrid marital history.

If you really want to see one of Newt’s supporters head spin – ask them if that same forgiveness goes for John Edward or Anthony Weiner. Then, for some reason, it is a different story and those two need to burn in Hell fire for eternity.

My, oh my, that Compassionate Conservatism of forgiveness must be ‘saved’ for only the select few.

This is what is wrong with the Religious Right Republicans – IMHO. These folks are hypocrits but they are PROUD to be hypocrits.

Indy, I think you are right if they’re “hypocrits” as Newt appears to be. But do not lose sight of what the Word says in Matthew 21: 31, “….the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom … ahead of you.”

      • Maybe this is why so many of these so-called Religious Rightees are so hung up on taxing the 99% and why so many are caught in sex scandals?

They want to be with the tax collectors and the prostitutes to get into the kingdom before the rest of the gang?

  2. Was anyone surprised at last night’s election results in Florida? What I found interesting is the fact that 37% of those who voted for Romney said that they still would like to see someone else run.

    OUCH……that’s gotta hurt.

Poor Mitt – all that money and his people still don’t want him as their president……

A team’s mascot has been suspended for two home matches for making obscene gestures to opposition fans.

Ceara’s ”Grandpa” mascot was suspended Tuesday after making the gestures to fans from Ferroviario in a match on Sunday.

Local media reports that Ceara is also expected to punish the person who was inside the mascot costume.

Ceara was relegated from the Brazilian first division last year but is one of the most famous clubs in northeastern Brazil.

(OK from reading this does it seem that someone need to have it explained how these things work. The character is not the real being so yes it is the human being dressed as the character who is the responsible one. Punishing the character would do not good. )

    • I took it entirely different – suspending the mascot from appearing at two matches shows that the person inside the costume did something inappropriate.

The team also wants to punish the real person inside the costume – which is why they are choosing to punish him.

I suspect most fans would not even know who the real person is inside the mascot costume – which is why the mascot’s suspension is an important symbolic thing to do.

Wow – Brazil takes things serious – don’t they? Here in the USA – that Mascot would probably be given their own talk show – in costume and all – and probably sell merchandise showing the offensive gesture .

      Anything for a dollar in America – ……head shaking…..

  4. Anyone here watch Soul Train while they were growing up?

I remember watching Soul Train when my husband and I were first married (yes, Baptist preachers liked to dance – well, at least one Baptist preacher did -LOL).

  5. Somebody left a flyer in door earlier. It’s a request for a ballot to be mailed directly to me for the February 28th special election. I’ve been hunting for what “special” thing we’ll be voting on and haven’t found anything. On the front of this, it says…

Do you want your tax dollars going to greedy rich developers? Or schools, roads, police & fire? Vote NO Feb. 28th

No to what? Because this is paid for by Kansans for Liberty, and when I started searching, I found them connected to the Tea Partiers and list upcoming events of the Pachyderm Club. Now, I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box, but I do know that a pachyderm has a trunk. Quite telling, isn’t it, when the Tea Party directly connects itself to a Republican Club–several, in fact–and calls itself non-partisan? Among the groups they support are the Mama Grizzlies and the John Birch Society.

I wish I’d know who was dropping this off on my doorstep. I don’t have a clue what this special election is about. They like to use all this couble talk. I suspect it’s regarding the tax issues involved with the “boutique hotel.” Anyone know for sure?

    • When is the next election? Maybe this is one of those stunts I’ve been reading about on other blogs where Republicans have been duping voters into going to vote on the wrong day, or the wrong location.

Is this what is going on maybe?

      I’m just guessing…

      • Maybe the request for the mailing of your ballot is going into that infamous File #13 – the wastebasket?

Or maybe this group will send you a ballot and then direct you to mail it back at the wrong address?

I would not put anything past these Republicans when it comes down to keeping folks from voting.

      • It’s a legit election. I saw it listed on the County website. I really do think it has to do with the boutique hotel thing. The city apparently can’t agree, so let’s spend a boat load of money for a special election.

The request for ballot is legit. It goes to the County Election Office.

      • That’s good to hear – but as I’ve said before, I am very cynical. Maybe it’s my age or I have just had my fill of these Republicans – and to think, I am actually a Reigistered Republican!

These folks love me at their political functions…..LMAO

The election was forced via a petition drive when a conservative group opposed a deal to require future guests at the downtown Eaton Hotel to pay a special guest tax to offset the cost of refurbishing the hotel. Only guests who stay at the hotel will pay this tax but local conservatives are making an issue of it. They would rather see the building sit empty than allow a developer to benefit from the tax. Vote yes on February 28th! A yes vote will allow construction and remodeling to begin, and will create some jobs in the downtown area. It is a short term tax that was proposed to encourage the development of this property, which I believe is a historical building.

    • So this is a Tea Party thing about taxes? If the taxes are on the guests that stay at the property, then why should I care? These folks should be told upfront there is a tax and if they choose to pay it and stay there, then so be it.

I wonder how many of these conservatives who are so worried about taxes are getting their panties in a bunch over the payroll tax cut extension not being made permanent?

Sometimes I just wonder if people get this upset because they really feel strongly about something or are they just looking for something to biotch about?

I must confess – I am in a very cynical mood tonight. I have not been feeling well and listening to Mitt Romney this morning about how he does not care about the very poor or the very rich but somehow his heart now belongs to the middle class just makes me want to scream…

      • Mitt Romney seems like such a robotic person regurgitating the talking points. If you will notice, if he gets flustered and gets off the GOP talking point script – Romney is a disaster.

Romney is just anot a people person. Even with all his money – people still don’t like him – and that is alot of people in his own party!!

    • Thanks for the explanation. Are you sure it was the Eaton? Because it’s already been converted to apartments and is occupied. It’s no longer a hotel. Too, there was a new “boutique” hotel that I remember reading that people were up in arms because of a guest tax. It was in another old building.

If I wasn’t so tired tonight, I’d go look it all up, but to be honest, I don’t care right now. But I do thank you for the info.

  7. Freedomwriter

I hear your pain! Sometimes I feel like screaming too. You know this whole crazy right wing stuff could easily be cleared up if those Republicans who believe differently would just stand up and start confronting the extremists in their party. Come on Republicans I know there are some sane voices of reason among you, Stand up for Reason and common sense.!

    • sometimes I just wonder why Obama even wants to run again. Seriously, this guy has it made from here on out. He is the first black president. He has a pretty pension check coming, his speaking fees would be out of the stratosphere and he is well liked within the global community (unlike Obama’s predecessor).

Obama would want for nothing in the arena of money – so why put himself through all the crappola?

It must be due to the fact that he genuinely and sincerely cares about what happens to the country.

I know, the usual GOP suspects looking over the fence are probably laughing at that last statement – but I do think Obama gives a damn about the country.

I’m not so sure about those folks who pushed for America to default on its debts and become a deadbeat.

      • But on the other hand – if Obama did not run again, he would be seen as running away from or backing down from the Far Right Wingers – and that cannot happen.

I’ve often wondered why these Far Right Wingers have such a deep hatred of Obama – and I think it is more than just he is black or a Democrat.

I suspect these Far Right Wingers are terrified of the idea that if this black president is a success – it will only be a matter of time before the first female president – and that, I suspect, would be unfathomable to these Far Right Wingers.

Just think – a woman president? Their God just would not allow that – would He?

      • I base my theory on the fact that even the Far Right Wingers did not fully support Michele Bachmann – did they?

Oh – they loved her as their cheerleader and to bring in the crowds – but in reality – these Far Right Wingers did not want a woman as their president.

      • r.d.liebst

And of course you can just hear the cry that He has totally screwed up the country and now is running away! Ahh complain about being hung with a new rope huh? Well I guess they can not be realistic about it, how well would it go to be saying that the President has brought us out of a finanical crisis and lead this country through several wars stopping some of the great threats to us since Hitler. But you need to vote him out and vote me in because I will…ah… ah yeaps vote for me!

      • I also think Obama has done an extraordinary job in preventing wars and getting out of the crappy ones we’ve been in for way too damn long.

(although – those withdrawals had been tentatively agreed to during the Bush years – a fact these Far Right Wingers seem to fail to grasp).

But I don’t hear Obama publicly stating that he wants to go to war with Iran and would proudly hit the nuke button once he gets the chance – like the GOP candidates have (except one – Ron Paul).

On the issue of war mongering – I agree with Ron Paul 100% – but, then again, Ron Paul is not a real Republican , Far Right or otherwise, is he?

      • I often wonder just how much Obama and others not in the Congressional circle and especially WH circle knew about the condition the country was in during the last few months of 2008. The bank bailouts were approved by Congress Oct. 3, 2008. The election was Nov. 4, 2008. I always get the feeling that those running for office in the early months of 2008 had no idea what the exact financial state of the U.S. was. In other words, the White House, under Dubya, including all his good buddies, knew a helluva lot more than anyone else, and they sure has heck weren’t talking. You know and I know that there are things newly elected presidents suddenly become privvy to, especially with a group like the one we dealt with from 2000-2008.

      • IIRC – Obama has said several times that the economic crisis was far worse than anybody knew. But, of course, this is why the Republicans (who helped cause the mess) have labeled Obama as a whiner and someone who always has to blame Bush or somebody else.

Well, anyone with one working brain cell knows that the economy was bad – and that was what the general public knew. The entire picture is never really known – nor told – to the general public.

But, bottom line to Republicans – the world did not start until the day Obama walked into the Oval Office. Isn’t that correct?

  8. If there is a silver lining in all this mess – at least we did not have President McCain in there – with his sidekick Sarah Palin.

That, IMHO, would have been the end of the USA as we know it.
