  1. An aerial view of some of the Occupy Wall Street protests in NYC yesterday afternoon before it got darker and BIGGER.

  2. From everything I’ve read those who are shaking in their boots at this grass-roots uprising continue to demand demands. Like ostriches. Or like idiots. Anyone who says they have no idea what’s behind this is just not telling the truth, or is an idiot.

Occupy Wall Street is twice as popular as Congress, more popular than Tea Party (slate.com).

The two biggest differences I see between OWS and TP is no millionaire is behind OWS — it’s a true grass-roots movement, and the occupiers actually know what they’re talking about.

    • There is a site that claims to be a forum of the OW demands. Many of the demands posted are totally unreasonable. The site now has this at the beginning of it…

Admin note: This is not an official list of demands. This is a forum post submitted by a single user and hyped by irresponsible news/commentary agencies like Fox News and Mises.org. This content was not published by the OccupyWallSt.org collective, nor was it ever proposed or agreed to on a consensus basis with the NYC General Assembly. There is NO official list of demands.

This forum needs to be taken down, it is not helping the cause. Doesn’t help that it’s a .org because these are the sites that my brother (the conservative) says can be trusted. Anybody have a connection with Anonymous?

      • From comments I’ve seen made on Twitter and other places, Anonymous is keeping an eye on things.

Of course those who could be adversely affected by the OWS movement will lie and do whatever they feel is necessary to kill the “rebellion.” If they’d do nothing, I’d be very afraid. But how to counteract these attempts to undermine the truth? Just keep posting it. There will always be those who can’t be swayed, but there are many who still have a shred of intelligence left in their brain who will see the light.

      • I expect there were be a lot of this. There’s money to be made and people who will sink to any level to make it.

        ——————————-

As the Occupy Wall Street movement inspires protests in more U.S. cities, a website has popped up that seems to be trading on the group’s somewhat nebulous status and lack of formal organization.

The site, called OccupyParty.org, has been disavowed on the actual Occupy Wall Street site, where the author also noted, “We are not a political institution.”

OccupyParty has a landing page that features what you might expect from a young political movement: images of a diverse crowd of smiling people, waving flags; an image of the U.S. Constitution; and a video purporting to show dastardly Wall Street bankers.

The only snag: other than an embedded YouTube video (from another group), the page is devoid of any working links to information about Occupy Wall Street β€” or even more about “The Occupy Party.”

A look at the page’s source code finds that even the link under “Latest Events” is a mere hashtag placeholder β€” which returns anyone who clicks on it to the top of the page they’re already on.

        http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2011/10/06/141119164/seemingly-bogus-website-uses-occupy-party-name-to-sell-ads?sc=fb&cc=fp

  3. Here’s that sign! I saw this compared to poking a bear with a sharp stick. I see it as stupidly boastful. I was totally wrong about where it is. It’s the Chicago Board of Trade, the world’s oldest options and futures trading center.

  4. A quick update on Occupy Wall Street across the country.

On the ticker tape that runs at the bottom of the live streaming at http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution, I saw this:

#occupysf camp being torn down by public works and police in riot gear

  5. When I saw the cartoon above it sent my head racing to all the talking points we hear —

The GOP-controlled House has passed jobs bills that are sitting ignored in the Senate. Uh-huh. All those relaxing or eliminating regulations thingies which have nothing to do with jobs. Seems they’ve decided to use the word ‘jobs’ in describing everything and try to fool those easily fooled.

We must reduce taxes! Proven to be wrong move; one that kills jobs. Don’t they ever ask themselves where in the world ALL those jobs are since our taxes are at the lowest point in over 60 years?

No business is going to add jobs with this ‘uncertainty’ in our economy. Oh, but they will! As soon as the demand for their products or services is increased they’ll make more ‘widgets.’

I heard the most interesting discussion which looked back at Reagan’s term in office (accepted by most to be the beginning of this mess). History and facts allowed everyone to see and prove what cutting taxes and eliminating regulations did to the unemployment numbers, and what effect those measures had on the economy. Of course we already know (unlike the clueless tea baggers) how negative an impact there was, and how harmful those tactics were. I’ll see if I can find something on that discussion — it was complete with statistics and comparisons one can only make when looking back. No one could deny the facts unless it was those who make up their own and expect people with brains to believe them.

  6. The October 2011 ‘occupation’ begins in 2 hours, 47 minutes, __ seconds. See countdown at —

    http://october2011.org/

October 2011 will mark the start of the 11th year of the invasion of Afghanistan and the onset of the 2012 US federal budget, which provides unlimited funds for war and corporate welfare, yet withholds essential funds for services that meet human needs.

Starting on October 6, 2011, thousands of concerned Americans will assemble in Freedom Plaza, in Washington DC to take control of our country and our lives. We will occupy the plaza and hold a People’s Assembly where we come up with just and sustainable solutions to the crises we face and demand that these solutions be presented and that the people’s needs be addressed. We will plan and engage in creative acts of civil resistance and demand that our inherent rights and freedoms be protected, and that our children have a chance to live in peace,to breathe clean air, and to grow edible natural food.

    Stay tuned!

  7. Jon Stewart’s perspective (which is closer than anyone who doesn’t call themselves a comedian has come up with) —

    http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-october-5-2011/parks-and-demonstration

    • As always, Jon nails it.

I noticed the comment by Steve Doocy at the end of the clip about how 1000 protesters kept him from his steak.

Steve was once part of a pair on KAKE. In our house, we called him Steve Douchebag. Some things never change. πŸ™‚

(Trying to think of the name of the blonde–and very freckled–chick who shared the camera with him on KAKE. I know it. I met her when I worked at a local photography studio. Last name was Criss? Or her husband’s was.)

      • G-STIR

        Mogie Lanston?

      • Excellent. Mogie Langston Criss. Or Crist. That sounds more likely. They divorced at some point, I heard. Whatever. She was from Wichita, but nothing much else comes up with a search.

Here’s a link I found that mentions her…and the video of her and her husband. (wink, wink) According to someone who posted, she’s the sister of Betsy Gwinn. Mogie/Mogey was short for Margaret. I remember that much, now that you gave me the name.

        http://mallsofamerica.blogspot.com/2005/07/towne-east-square-mall.html

Thanks for keeping me sane, g-stir. πŸ˜‰

      • Mogie was the infamous co-host of the Mike & Mogie show. The co-host that my husband loved to hate. She was involved in quite a scandal having to do with a privately recorded sex tape she was in that had been stolen from her.

      • KAKE’s Kaleidoscope.

And it wasn’t her husband in the video with her, but someone else.

That’s not something I’d want to have to live down. πŸ™‚

  8. So Sarah quit teasing.

And her ‘announcement’ came on the same day a man who changed our world in positive ways died, thus overshadowing her in the media.

    karma

Now let’s hope she fades into oblivion and is never heard from again.

    • Sarah only kept people guessing so she could earn more money. Greed will be the death of many.

    • She knows she can be on the sidelines and continue to throw bombs in the political arena without being held accountable for what she says and does.

But seriously, if the polls are correct – even her Republican supporters don’t want her to run for president.

This crowd is moving on to the next flavor-of-the-month candidate – so perhaps this is really the reason she chose not to run – her numbers are not that great…even within her own party.

  9. This revolution is full of love —

    • You wouldn’t know it by listening to Right Wing media, Faux News, or comments on the local newspaper. But all it takes it to see what people are saying on social media to know that this is a peaceful protest.

  10. Fox News and Corporate Republicans are demonizing the Occupy Wall Street protesters as being ‘against corporations’.

That is not what I hear these prortesters saying – what I hear is that these protesters are yelling against the GREED of corporations.

Not all corporations are in that 1% that is being greedy, manipulating the tax code and getting all those taxpayer-funded subsidies.

There are good corporations and there are bad corporations – kinda like the way there are good Christians and then the bad Christians who like to boo a gay soldier, applaud 234 executions, call for uninsured man in a coma to die and to call victims of Alzheimers the walking dead.

    • It’s simply a way to keep people from listening. These news pundits think it will work and the Occupiers will give up and go home. Instead, like the way police are treating the protesters, it will backfire on them and the truth will be seen.

      • The old saying – gossip travels halfway around the world before the truth gets its shoes on – could also apply when one solitary word is left out of something

If the word ‘greedy’ is taken out protesters against (______) corporations – then, of course, that makes it an entirely different spin on the story.

But since when has fair and balanced lived up to that name??

      • Staying on script, so to speak, is what will bring the truth to light. Arguing against the opposition, as some people try to do, doesn’t gain ground. This is something that’s being stressed at all the occupied locations.

  11. Watching live feed from DC. It appears they’ve been allowed sound amplification.

I can only imagine what the weekend will bring. Tomorrow night could become historic across the country. People unable to participate because of jobs, family, etc., and/or who haven’t stepped forward yet, may take the opportunity to do so.

I’m headed to the Delano ghost tour this evening, but will take the long way home and drive down Douglas to see how things are going there. My weekend is already filled with things to do, but if I can find the time Sunday to go down, I will. My youngest tries her best to ignore these things, but I notice she pays attention when no one is watching. LOL

  12. As I’ve shared before, I sometimes listen to Televangelist Pat Robertson on his 700 Club just to see what the old guy is up to….

Well, this morning he was talking about Steve Jobs. Of course, Pat was praising Steve Jobs for taking an idea and making alot of money off it and becoming such a great corporation.

Then good ol’ Pat had to interject this little tidbit of information – Steve Jobs was born to two grad students – one of which was from Syria – which made Steve Jobs half-Arab.

It was obvious good ol’ Pat was choking on the word ‘Arab’.

But my question is this – what does it matter if Steve Jobs was half-Arab? What does that have to do with this man’s life and accomplishments?

Since I can only take a few minutes of good ol’ Pat, I changed the channel to MSNBC.

On there, I heard Jesse Jackson talk about Steve Jobs and that he was a ‘people’ person that cared about social equality. Jobs was a genius in the corporate world but he also brought his genius to the average consumer – not just the elite. And I think that is what Jesse Jackson was trying to get across.

But not once did Jesse Jackson say that Jobs was half-Arab – nor did he even mention the man’s ethnicity.

Now this is the difference between two people on television who are talking about the same man.

The self-professing Christian leader bragged about how much money Jobs made and then threw in his half-Arab ethnicity.

The black Rainbow Coalition leader bragged about how successful Jobs was and that he was more than just money – he was a person that cared about people.

Hmmm, wonder which description would the real Jesus want to listen to?

    • BTW – I am still waiting on good ol’ Pat to respond to my question if people in comas, vegetative state, and mental disorders are also considered the walking dead – as Pat said Alzheimers victims are..

Maybe he and his followers are praying for me? Rather, I suspect they are waiting for me to click on the link to contribute money – AND then maybe they will talk to me….

      What do you think???

      • I think I recognize Pat’s voice after about 2 words and rush to change the channel, saying, “Oh, no, you don’t!” πŸ™‚

      • LMAO – I know what you mean. But I am one of these people that feel I need to know what the old guy is up to in order to prepare for the onslaught of these Evangelical Christian Conservative Republicans regurgitating his talking points.

You know there is another old saying – the good die young.

That’s what I thought of when I heard that Steve Jobs died yesterday. And yet the world is still stuck with old coots with big mouths.

  13. WSClark

The Republicans say it. The Tea Party says it. Mitt Romney says it. Herbie Cain says it. Fox News? says it. Every conservative commentator says it. They say it in the debates. They say it on the air, on television and on the radio. They all say it.

    CLASS WARFARE.

Okay, yes it is, what’s your point?

They say it as if that should be something we are ashamed of, something to humiliate us into dropping our objections. They say it as if, once having heard it, we will slink home and repent our ‘sins.”

Well, we are merely fighting back in the CLASS WARFARE that Reagan started thirty years ago. Your feeble attempt to characterize the OWS movement as being somehow anti-American or socialistic or communistic or inappropriate is just ludicrous.

It is CLASS WARFARE, and there are more of us than there are of you. My suggestion is that you prepare your white flag.

    • As far as I can tell, these protesters are exercising the right to free speech and the right to peacefully assemble.

These same demonizers were all too happy when the Tea Party Movement was doing their protesting.

These folks just don’t like it because they know the 99% outnumber the 1% and maybe – just maybe – the majority of Americans are fed up.

      • BTW – Not all Tea Party people are saying class warfare.

Dylan Ratigan was saying that there are original Tea Party people in the OWS protest Movement.

The current Tea Party is not the original Tea Party people. The Tea Party Express was the corporate masters’ Trojan horse – so are they really the Tea Party?

        I guess time will tell….

  14. This might have been posted before – but I wanted to post it again. MSNBC is covering this Occupy Wall Street Movement more intently now.

IIRC -Dylan Ratigan went on a televised rant a month ago basically about this same issue of how our political system is corrupted by money – corporate money – and that the American people are paying the price.

With Dylan Ratigan as a supporter – this movement will only get stronger. I’ve heard Dylan Ratigan get on the backs of both parties when he thinks they are wrong.

And let’s face it – too much corrupted money in political parties does go for both parties.

  15. The OWS Movement is gaining strength – and there is some Congressman from Bank of America’s home state with a petition …. I just skimmed this article – but it sounds interesting……

  16. WSClark

Civil Disobedience – the Founding Principle of the United States.

  17. I’ve said this many times before – these Republicans cannot be shamed – they are not capable of feeling shame or embarrassment.

I truly believe these people are so driven by their hatred of Obama that they have lost all sense of reallity – and the ability to reason.

And I don’t give a damn that these folks think their God can beat up my God. This is just further proof that these folks are nuts.

    • Amen Jesse……He speaks for the majority of Americans who are looking for resolutions to our problems – not just kicking up nonsense partisan political crap.

  18. You know, all these Republicans waving their Constitutions around and proudly professing to be such loyal patriotic Americans need to remember just one thing – every right that they enjoy is also a right for the guy/gal they are now trying to demonize.

Every American citizen has the right to protest, freedom of speech and peacefully assemble.

If you don’t like that, might I suggest any desert terrain (of your choosing) over in the Middle East and start your own country.

  19. I know this has been posted before, but it needs to be posted everyday until these current self–professing Reagan-loving Republicans get it through their pointy heads that their beloved Golden God of Conservative must have not thought it to be class warfare to ask millionaires to pay their fair share in taxes.

    http://americount.org/2011/10/04/ronald-reagan-calls-millionaires-pay-fair-share-taxes/

  20. Just heard on MSNBC that Philadelphia has about 1,000 Occupy Wall Street protesters in their city right now.

Man, this movement is getting stronger. I suspect there are corporate masters everywhere trying to come up with a new Trojan Horse that they can hijack this movement like they did the original Tea Party?

I don’t think the 99% are all rabid Obama haters – and I sensed that was the #1 requirement to join the Tea Party.

The corporate masters may well just find this time their Goliath is facing David. And as the Bible tells us, David brought down Goliath with only a slingshot.

And that slingshot was handmade – not even made in China……LOL

    • Do Not Mistake Us
      For A Movement
      Without Leadership

      (Americans who are the 99%!)

      We Are All Leaders
And We Ballet On Your Bull

      Occupy Wall Street
      Occupy Your Street
      Occupy Everywhere

  21. Let’s make sure everyone knows the republicans are obstructionists!

β€œToday, my understanding is we’re going to have a hearing on Richard Cordray, who is my nominee to head up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau … He has a good reputation. And Republicans have threatened not to confirm him not because of anything he’s done, but because they want to roll back the whole notion of having a consumer watchdog.” β€”President Obama at a press conference this morning

  22. We’re off to go ghost hunting tonight in Delano.

If you find yourself with nothing to do, the walking tour is free, runs from 6-9 pm., and begins at L-D Stadium.

  23. Freebird1971

    ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KVmRt

  24. Freebird1971

    Try that again

  25. As far as Republicans say the OWS Movement does not have leadership should not be a problem to them – I remember these same folks bragging that the Tea Party did not have any leadership.

So, if it’s good enough for the TEa Party – why is it now so bad for OWS?

    • ‘Cause they’re scared. Is anyone occupying anywhere gonna vote for one of THEM? Nope! The republicans have waged war on women, minorities, youth, smart people, well… they only have the old white men and the women who do their bidding. That’s a very tiny number of people!

  26. 6176, if you’re reading, I want to let you know that I just finished watching the first part of HBO’s John Adams and thought it was great. Granted, I have 6 more parts to watch and probably will do it slowly, but I was impressed with everything I saw. I have a feeling that watching it will put a new spin on the current “occupations” going on.

And if the rest is as good as the first, I’ll be shelling out some money to Amazon for the DVD set. LOL
