At least I can look at the snow and ice from INSIDE the house today instead of taking my life in my hands out on the road to town.
I’ll likely spend most of the day piled up on the couch with a big brown Weim snuggled up next to me, and a beautiful cow dog guarding my feet.
I’ve been doing the office books all week so I haven’t been on top of the news, but it looks like the kansas leggie is up to their usual mischief, keeping women safe from themselves and ensuring that our state’s largely silent and powerless labor movement remains silent and powerless.
In other words, it’s just another day in Dumbfukistan….
I’m so glad the leggies (love the moniker!) are assuring my womanly safety, especially since I don’t have the mental capactiy to have individual thoughts of my own. We women don’t, of course.
Wichita didn’t get the snow, very little ice, but we’re back in the deep freeze. I feel colder this time when it isn’t as cold. Is that because spring temps teased me?
We’re in Kansas so we don’t need to wait long for the weather to change. I think tomorrow is predicted to be in the 60s and thunderstorms. 🙂
My Boston kids are holding a housewarming party this evening. I’m trying to drag myself out of my pity party about being so far away. They’ve sent me oodles and gobs of pictures of their house ready for guests to help me feel included.
I’ll definitely be happy to see warmer temps! I’m in an old house with cold floors, and the heat vents are in the ceiling. My feet are always freezing in the winter, no matter how many pairs of socks I wear. I finally jacked up the thermostat a few degrees this winter, even knowing my heating bill will be higher. Getting old-er is the pits.
When I saw the cartoon in the thread header my first thought was to question whether it is possible for the sane Republicans to make a come back? I don’t remember a time when there were so many crazies given the stage to represent them. And since their idol Reagan told them to stick together no matter what, we’re left with no one willing to tell those crazies to get off the stage. They’ve allowed Beck, Palin, Bachmann, Rush, most of Rupert Murdoch’s stable, and a long list of nutjobs to frame their values. We’ve seen how often Republican moderates or anyone who sounds sane is invited out of their party, labeled a RINO. Absent any evidence contradicting what we hear from those they’ve given the stage, we’re forced to accept that insanity represents their party well.
Maybe if they were able to locate a sane-sounding representative of their values they would be willing to speak up and police their own. All they have to do is find one.
I wonder the same, Fnord, and I wonder if sane Democrats will ever make a comeback either. It seems the crazies have won, completely, and they will not be happy or finished until the uber rich have ALL the money and we have NONE of our freedoms.
No one can disagree that both parties worship and protect the wealthy, and neither party is doing a good enough job at protecting our civil liberties.
Is there NO difference?
When you compare anyone from the Murdoch stable to the people democrats listen to do you see differences? At least we’re not embracing The Birthers and those who are convinced President Obama is a Muslim or a Socialist… Republicans have been listening to and defending Rush for many years, so along come others who want in on that money, like Beck. They’ve given approval to the nonsense for so long they’ve painted themselves into a corner. Remember within the last two years when there was a list of some who tried to correct Rush’s lies and exaggerations but were forced to withdraw the criticism the very next day because he had so much power among their constituents? Conservatives simply handed over the keys to the inmates, forgetting someday they would have to fight the crazies for the right to run the asylum.
Speaking of Wisconsin, this is a WOW. At least to me. I’m a sucker for movies like A Chorus Line, Fame, Flashdance, Hoosiers, Remembering the Titans, and others where hard work and determination is blessed by reaching a dream.
“Capitol police have allowed protesters to stay 24 hours a day and hundreds do most nights. But police plan to end the sleepover at 4 p.m. Sunday, setting up a potential showdown in what has been a relatively incident-free protest.
“I’m pretty sure there will be people unwilling to leave the building on their own two feet,” Rowan said.”
With all the coordination the article tells us of, there must be a plan for the above.
I’m just amazed at the number of people involved, and so many are non-union. Of course I’m immedately brought down when I think of what has happened to protesters in our own House. The rhetoric spewed by union haters (including death threats to union people) in the comments section of an article in the paper had me wondering if someone shouldn’t have been banned immediately. To hate that much must be painful.
We do live among them. Sometimes it distorts our perspective and makes it more difficult to know that Kansas isn’t representative of the majority in our country.
Okay, friends. I found something some of you might enjoy.
Probably all of us are aware that Keith Olbermann is no longer with MSNBC and is now with Current TV. But he also has a great blog, FOK News Channel, and his most recent post is worth reading.
Thanks, wicked! I’m enjoying his blog and he makes great sense. Did you notice he writes as fast as he talks? At least I can easily go back and reread.
This weather SUCKS, big time. We were PROMISED 56 and partly cloudy today. I guess I’ll toss that promise in the dumpster with “cutting taxes balances the budget and Republicans are really nice people.”
My daughter and son-in-law’s van crapped out Wednesday, and I was summoned to help fix it today. The “codes” on the self-diagnosis system said EGR valve. That’s wasn’t it. Plugs were really bad – changed them. Changed the Fuel pump relay – that wasn’t it. Then I asked a question…….
“Do ya’ got gas in this thing?”
Well, the gauge SAID there was gas in it……………………………………..
Good morning progressives!

Always good to see you here, PP!!

Morning back, prairie. Hope you stay warm and safe.
For everyone’s entertainment, I present, without comment, the following apologia: http://reason.com/blog/2011/02/25/the-koch-brothers-right-wing-c
Their support of what’s happening in Wisconsin and other states with regard to unions doesn’t jive with that article.
Hi 617!
We never seem to be on here at the same time. However, I think of you often and hope you are well and happy.
Good morning!
Wichita didn’t get the snow, very little ice, but we’re back in the deep freeze. I feel colder this time when it isn’t as cold. Is that because spring temps teased me?
Yes. That’s my story as well, and I’m sticking to it.
Well, that and the 95% humidity.
We’re in Kansas so we don’t need to wait long for the weather to change. I think tomorrow is predicted to be in the 60s and thunderstorms. 🙂

If I could move to a blue state, I’d do so in a New York minute.

Has everyone checked out the Current TV sight? Lots of interesting information.

Don’t believe everything you read.
Oh, that’s funny. Bet it wasn’t funny at all to you.
Great day for college basketball!
Kansas State beat Mizzou!
Kansas won at Oklahoma!
Colorado beat Texas!
I’m a happy fan.
That makes two of us.
Went to the Rally in Topeka today.
I actually hate going to street demonstrations . . . but it’s better than doing nothing, heh.
