Bomb Targets MLK Parade in Spokane

Now for more news you won’t hear on FOX. A backpack bomb was discovered along the parade route of residents celebrating Martin Luther King Day.

AP reports

“The bomb had a remote detonator and the ability to cause mass casualties, according to an official familiar with the case who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release information about the investigation.

“The bomb was defused without incident Monday but unnerved residents of Spokane, especially those who took part in a parade whose theme was steeped in peace and nonviolence.

“The attempt on the day set aside to honor the slain civil rights leader raised the possibility of a racial motive in a region that has been home to the white supremacist group Aryan Nations.

“‘The confluence of the holiday, the march and the device is inescapable, but we are not at the point where we can draw any particular motive,’ Harrill said.”

Another bomb was found a few weeks earlier near a court-house.

Remember when Janet Napolitano announced the finding that right-wing extremists posed the greatest threat of domestic terrorism, and the right-wing erupted in OUTRAGE!

Well . . . she was right.

And on the media front, this event got about as much coverage as the mosque bombings, e.g., hardly any.

Remember when the right-wingers demanded that peace-loving Muslims denounce the terrorism of their fellow believers?

Let’s see how many right-wingers now step up to denounce the violent rhetoric and hate-speech of their ideological kin . . . heh.

Who says Muslims didn;t do it? Who says any “right-winger” did it? Jumping to conclusions, aren;t we?

Personally, I don;t care who did it. I hope they spend enough time in a wet, dark cell in a lonely prison somewhere that their skin begins to peel off.

I have no use for such….Whomever they are.

After we throw everyone in a wet, dark cell in a lonely prison somewhere – who is going to pay for those prisons?

As I heard today – Republicans want to make large budget cuts to law enforcement.

So when Jim David Adkisson opened fire in a Unitarian Church because he said he wanted to “kill liberals,” we can agree that he was right-wing, can’t we?

    • CapnAmerica

Who says Muslims didn’t do it?

Right. An Al Qaeda operative could have just accidentally forgotten to pick up his bomb when he dropped it to take a text message and he was on his way to his the Tea-bag Rally to kill patriotic ‘mericans.

Not unbelievable at all. Any muslim opportunist could have seen it as a good opportunity to kill/main a good number of people.

Until someone takes credit, or the authorities make a statement as to the guilty party, anything is possible…Including Muslims, Skinheads, Crazy person who disliked the event organizer, and on and on and on.

Well, he was a nutcase. But he did appear to be “right wing”. So?

The “so” is that sometimes people kill people because of their politics.
Lately, it’s been CONs killing Libs.
Libs killing CONs? Not so much.
Maybe CONs should speak out against the violence more, repudiate those who speak in violent terms (Ann Coulter, “we should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity”), and protest against the hate.

But then they couldn’t be CONs anymore.

    An isolated incident.

    Just like all the others.

What is intersting to note is this region is known for white supremist groups.

And there have been a few cases of questionable events that have happened. But let’s not let any of the facts get in the way of a good ‘whitewash’ huh?

The big picture tends to get lost in the sauce, but I give Monkeyhawk a prize for the most apt two-liner I’ve heard.

Analyzing the hows and whys is a bit more difficult.
