Random Thoughts 10/15/2010

(The full title is: Random Thoughts, from a Severely Twisted Mind, for October 15, 2010.)

Why do the DADT’ers think that our military men and women are not afraid to die in combat, but they will be afraid of being hit on by a gay person?

Are Angle, O’Donnell, Miller and Paul really the best of the Tea Party?

Why is “bailing out” Hawker-Beech good but bailing out GM is bad?

Who would you rather see lose, the Yankees, the Cowboys or Notre Dame?

Sarah was bad enough, so why do we have to put up with Bristol now?

“Tom and Jerry” is the best cartoon of all time.

Could Thomas Frank been any more correct?

Opinion Line comment: Cleavage is a sin. Huh? Someone has an issue.

If you had to be a horror movie character, would you rather be a werewolf or a vampire? I already have a start on the fur suit, so I’m going for werewolf.

They are thinking of doing a remake of “All in the Family.” Who should play Archie and who should play the Meathead?

An apple with salt or an apple with peanut butter?

Is Harry Reid truly the most politically clueless politician in America?

Football. Hockey. Basketball. Baseball. At this time of year, all four major professional sports are being played at the same time. This is really a tough time to be a sports junkie.

Kansas State’s football team played somebody Thursday evening. Fortunately, I missed it. Who was that other team?

Cats are crazy, especially my brood.. End of story.

I am looking forward to the end of election season just so I won’t have to see another Mike Pompeo campaign ad on television.

Any twisted thoughts of your own?

A really twisted thought would be if Republicans get into power and really do what they say they are going to do.

Is that twisted or just a pipe dream?

I’m all for limited government but I want a government that works efficiently. And I would like lower taxes and we could all have that if corporations were not put on the pedestal as the Golden God.

As for the difference between bailing out Hawker Beechcraft and GM – Several Republicans have tried to justify the difference being it was local government that bailed out Hawker Beechcraft adn federal government that bailed out GM.

To which my response was – there is no difference – both were taxpayer money and where in the Constitution does it say it is okay for government to bail out private companies?

  3. “Who would you rather see lose, the Yankees, the Cowboys or Notre Dame?”

Cowboys—no doubt about it, ad infinitum. 😉

“Sarah was bad enough, so why do we have to put up with Bristol now?”

I believe Barbara Walters summed it up best, (paraphrasing) all she did was get pregnant. If that’s all it takes to make you a star, I know A LOT of stars.

“Tom and Jerry” is the best cartoon of all time.

RIGHT ON. (Would lobby for Woody Woodpecker for second place, though. Some of those old cartoons were simply subversive. Love it.)

Could Thomas Frank been any more correct?

Not even if he were God.

  4. “Are Angle, O’Donnell, Miller and Paul really the best of the Tea Party?”

I was surprised at the number of ‘tea party’ candidates! Some of the more outrageous, like those you list, we hear a lot about, but according to this article there are at least 70! This article also talks to the disappointment of Republicans who know many of these candidates are wackos (my word, not the Republicans).

It will be interesting to see how this midterm election pans out.

If the Tea Party candidates are common sense people and are serious about trying to help our country solve our problems, then I support them.

But if they are just going to be a rebranded Republican puppet – then we don’t need any more of that kind in power.

    • I agree — both that it will be interesting and we’ll have to wait to see whether they are more of the same. It’s so difficult to tell when all campaigns tell us they are the best thing since sliced bread and only after they’re elected do we have much of an idea who they truly are.

Who would you rather see lose, the Yankees, the Cowboys or Notre Dame?

    Those damn Yankees, for sure.

Paula and I would sit on opposite sides of the football field. I am and have been for 40-some years a Cowboys fan.

Kansas State’s football team played somebody Thursday evening. Fortunately, I missed it. Who was that other team?

Actually, I think KU forgot to show up for the game. Or maybe the KU players couldn’t find the field? That is a big campus… I’m still chuckling and didn’t even see the game.

“Tom and Jerry” is the best cartoon of all time.

Definitely among the top, but I’ll take Road Runner. It’s the cluelessness of Wile E. that gives it the edge. Second place? Pink Panther.

  6. Zippy

Could Thomas Frank been any more correct?

Yes, but couldn’t have predicted that people would be stupid enough to fall for the same scam 3 times in a row.

Otherwise, the man is a prophet.

  7. snoringdogstudio

Is Mrs. Thomas misusing the power of prayer?

Why is it more difficult to get on American Idol than it is to be nominated for a Senate seat by the Tea Party and Republicans?

Why does a Brussel sprout have more of a soul than Glenn Beck?

    • Hi snoringdogstudio! Welcome to Paririe PP’s, stop by any time. You are one talented person! I love your illustrations. Writing, painting and illustrating — come on, some of us have no talents and you have a bunch. 😉

Good questions all. I think just voicing the question makes the answer pretty obvious.

Thank you for the lovely complement. Your blog is a reading pleasure. I’ll certainly be back.

I was so verklempt over the compliment that I misspelled it.
