Alright, so it was a really bad tie-in. Forgive me, please.
(If you need help with the reference, Google “Flock of Seagulls.”)
Iran has been a hot topic of late. Folks are getting all bent out of shape because a short little doofus in a tan windbreaker can’t keep his mouth shut.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is an idiot, and that is being kind. The West should just consider him for what he is – a front for the clerics that actually govern Iran and a useful scapegoat when things go wrong. Ahmadinejad is the worst kind of puppet – some folk actually think that he has some authority.
But what of the actual Iran? Should we consider them to be a threat? Does anyone really think that they are a threat to us?
Now, aided by the infinite wisdom of George W Bush, the US has effectively removed the counter balance of Iraq to Iran. We may as well have handed the keys to Middle East stability to Ahmadinejad.
Ahmadinejad may rattle sabers, but the fact remains that Israel would turn Iran into a wasteland within a week or so. If Ahmadinejad so much as farts in the general direction of Tel Aviv, he will find himself against a brick wall, wearing a blindfold.
So, what to do about Iran? Humor Ahmadinejad and let him continue to make a fool of himself? The West is making some progress in dealing with the cooler heads in Iran. We should continue that course.
My take – let Israel deal with him – no restrictions.
Bye, bye, Mahmoud!

One minor correction I feel needs to be made to your post. Where you said, “…aided by the infinite wisdom of George W Bush…,” should be changed to UNwisdom.
I know what you meant but it still rankles to see wisdom used in the same sentence as that idiot’s name.
OT, but how’s your hand today, Will?
Not as bad as I thought it was going to be, mostly second degree burns on the underside of my wrist. It is quite irritated but most of the pain from last night is gone.
Thank you for asking, Wicked.
Great news, Will! Continue to take care of you and that burn!
Imadinnerjacket needs a new tailor for starters. Lose the gray suits and maybe get a few highlights in the hair!
Would platform shoes help? 😉
Are all mad men short? I’m thinking of the nutcase in North Korea – Kim Jong Il or something like that?
Wasn’t Napoleon also short?
Maybe that is the problem with the world fighting? Get rid of these short dictators and half the trouble would just go away?
Ugh…don’t get the Loon started on KIM Jong…she is obsessed.
I love your code name – I need to remember that one.
Thanks for the chuckle today. I need it – the rain is back….

That is the absolute truth. My dad used to say he couldn’t understand why other countries mess with Isreal. History has shown that at some point Isreal will say that enought and bitch slap Iran. The interesting thing is that when and if that does happen I don’t think the other Mid East countries will lift a finger to help Iran, their thinking being better you than us.
I am not so sure about that. The Mid East countries are a fickle bunch. I guess their reaction would be connected to how it would profit them to back either side.
If Republicans keep up this demonization of all Muslims, these Mid East countries might just say – to hell with you and actually help Iran fight off Israel, which everybody knows would be Israel and us.
Personally, I don’t care what Israel and Iran do. If they want to fight it out, let them go. But I do care when Israel uses us as their attack dog and water carrier.
I care that we’ve gone along and been Israel’s attack dog and water carrier!
I can support America and be furious at missteps. Same with Israel! People who are critical simply see the country’s faults and refuse to ignore them!
What I would love to see is George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Imadinnerjacket, Kim Jong Il, al Malaki from Iraq all in a locked room and tell them to fight it out.
I wonder which one would crap their pants first?
My guess would be dick, hiding behind george wouldn’t be nearly as effective in that group!
I hope George has put on a little more weight. Last time I saw Cheney, he looked more bloated than usual.
I agree fnord.
Israel has done their share of antagonizing the situation. They have not always been the victim, although they claim to be the victim.
That theme sounds familiar – doesn’t it?
These fundamental Christians all claim to be persecuted but yet I have not seen any of them being lynched, bombed, thrown in prison for their religious beliefs – have you? But you can bet you last dime these same fundies support Israel at any cost to our country.
My frustration is with the pre-Iraq War-type mentality that Iran is somehow a threat to the US. The “bomb, bomb, bomb Iran” mentality is pure insanity.
Seven plus years after invasion, we are still in the process of pulling out of Iraq. Nine years after invasion, we are just now addressing the source of the 9/11 attacks on the Afghani/Paki border.
Yet there are some – most notably John McCain – that would have us address Iran militarily.
I made a sophomoric comment about what would happen to Ahmadinejad if he were to directly threaten Israel. I think that even he is smart enough to realize that he would we signing a death warrant for his country if he were to directly threaten the United States.
It wouldn’t be “Bye, bye, Mahmoud!” It would be bye, bye Iran.
I never find it amusing when someone “jokes” about nuking Iran. The Persians are a great people with a great history. I have met Iranians in exile in this country and liked them very much and found that we have much in common. They suffered greatly from stupid US. foreign policies in the past and the result was that a bunch of fundies took over their country. They suffered and continue to suffer because of it. And now this government wants to act like our crappy foreign policy had nothing to do with the current situation and just bomb the populace?
No wonder people abroad hate us. If we agree with these idiotic policies, we are deserving of their contempt.
I read an article titled, “Bikini Diplomacy,” where the author states — “by making a Muslim woman their Miss USA, the judges may have done more to further American cultural diplomacy than all our government efforts combined.”
We have to get to the point where we can see that radicals are radicals whether they be of the Christian variety or the Muslim variety or any other variety!
Damn straight, fnord! It’s time to stop concentrating on the differences that have been created, exacerbated and strategically situated to keep us all at each other’s throats and start looking at the similarities. Christian fundies are as whackadoo as Muslim fundies and Jewish fundies. They are all militant, against the teachings of their religions, and arrogant and a danger to themselves and others.
These whackadoo Christians will not believe that their Christianity has been used to justify evil done to some perceived enemy.
They really believe their God has chosen them to be his favorites. Just ask any of them, they will be happy to thump their Bible for you.
An attack on Iran I see as a no win situation, we do it and inflame the region the Israelis do it same thing.
But either way we get blamed and have to deal with the consequences.
You are right, Israel has nukes and would use them so there is nothing gained by a Iranian attack.
Israel is like a mean drunk anyway, looking for a fight and having beaten everyone who had wanted to fight them.
We can not let stupid win the day, either our own or someone else’s.
I believe this is what Obama was referring to when he made the comment last month (?) that whether we liked it or not, the US is the superpower that will get dragged into the fight. (or something to that effect).
Remember how much the Republicans demonized Obama for making that comment? Of course, they always paint Obama as being weak and running to the Muslims to apologize.
Oh, please just give me a freakin break.
This guy must be Iran’s George Bush!
