  1. Cluster Of Strong Quakes: Coincidence Or Trend?

And, just as wicked predicted when the strong earthquakes first began:

Here is the reason for a more effective Government.

Everything takes money, that includes helping those who need help.
There is waste in the operation of Government, billions of dollars a year are going to fund several programs that actually do the exact same thing.

Tom Colburn was on Morning Joe and said there are over 175 programs spread out over several departments that all promote college students to study the same subject that would be beneficial to the Government and the country.

Billions are spent every year for these programs and these programs actually have no accounting for them as to where the money is spent and how much is spent.

Before there is the thought of increasing taxes there need to first get the best buy out of what is already there.

  3. I’m sure you and Tom Colburn are correct that there is much waste that can be cut. But, the day education (in every form) gets even one-fourth the amount of money that the military does will be a day to celebrate progress!

    • FWIW, I have long believed that an educated population is the cornerstone of true “National Security”.

And an educated population is the best defense of our democracy.

I truly believe the dumbing down of America started with Ronald Reagan.

The dumber the people are, the less they are to ask questions?

The point he was making was not about education it is that billions are going for exactly the same thing.
Several different department having programs that all promote the same thing while there only needs to be one program that each could direct to.

“If condition A = >, then fall through to function 1”

Each department has their own staff to direct students to their program which will do exactly the same thing as the program does in the other departments.

NOW this maybe all be what is called a “shadow financing” where there is a hidden and secret operation that is funded through above board departments.

Like a CIA program or operation the is secret to even the Congress.

  4. In fact, education could be the key to peace. And the solution to most other challenges.

  5. Ex-NSA Worker Indicted for Leaks

Whistleblower or national-security liability? A federal court has charged a former senior executive at the National Security Agency with lying and obstruction of justice for serving as a source that leaked classified information to a newspaper. Thomas Drake, 52, allegedly exchanged hundreds of emails with a reporter at a newspaper that published articles about the Bush administration’s intelligence policies between February 2006 and November 2007. The reporter, the newspaper, and the exact nature of the stories are unknown. Drake headed the NSA’s Signals Intelligence Directorate at Fort Meade between 2001 and 2005.

  6. This is interesting!

Massive fireball reported across Midwestern sky

I can’t remember when it was, but recently during rain in Wichita, the lightening was almost constant, unlike anything I remember seeing before. Nothing like this fireball, but doesn’t lightening take different forms or am I just totally off base?

    • Lightning does take different forms. I don’t recall the name, but the form where the lightning becomes a ball and travels roughly parallel to the ground is one.

“This will definitely help the Intrust Arena parking problem. Once that river is moved out of downtown Wichita,we’ll have plenty of parking room, No Problemo”, announced a County spokeperson.

  8. David B,

Tried “Lucid Lynx” beta yet? I’m giving it a go; there are some known bugs which are troublesome for many, but it’s been fairly stable on the Macs.

Also am giving “Lubuntu” a whirl on a spare partition of my laptop; it is fast.

  9. Thought this might be of interest.

Been crazy at work, crazy at home and trying (like crazy) to finish my taxes and get them filed. Yeah, I know, bad, bad procrastinator.

as a kid, I once saw a fireball meteor.. It was awesome…

David – did you make it to the Tea Party?

Looks like a lively discussion going on over at the WE site .

Of course, the usual Tea Partiers are busting a gut to prove they are the only patriotic people in the bunch.

Huffington Post is reporting Fox News pulled Sean Hannity from the Tea Party Rally in Cincinnati.

Seems Mr. Hannity was supposed to broadcast his show tonight from the Tea Party rally and when the Fox News executives learned of this, Mr. Hannity had to cancel his appearance and rush back to New York (I believe that is where he went).

It seems rather odd that Fox News executives did not know their own talking head was being promoted as broadcasting his show from that rally tonight. I even heard Sean Hannity, himself, promoting this appearance and the fact that he would be signing his books at the same time. (wink – wink).

So, this brings up a good question – do the Fox News executive even listen to their own talking heads?

This is really interesting in the fact that just last week Rupert Murdock stated that he thought Fox News should not be endorsing the Tea Party or any party.

Boy, that tea must be getting really rancid now.
