This link was posted on FB by a friend of ours. Not only was the article interesting, but the comments–minus the name-calling between the usual two sides–was, too.

Whee! 5 hours of sleep means frist post!

For a good laugh (it’s time for one), I cannot improve on Dan Perkins’ (Tom Tomorrow’s) introduction:

    href = http://thismodernworld.com/5042“> Tom Tomorrow:

    But of course

Under the category of “I am not making this up”: Sarah Palin says she used to cross the border to Canada to get health care.

    She now considers this “ironic.”

Lucky you. That’s more sleep than I got. I decided not to look at the clock before I finally went to sleep, then ended up getting up at the usual time for no reason. I’m trying to put those lost hours to good use. We’ll see how long that lasts. 😉

    Oops. Wicked beat me!

Due to the time zone difference, I’m pretty sure your post came earlier than wickeds even tho it didn’t appear first!

Now off to check out the links you provided. I love it when you bring ‘stuff’ to share!

    Thanks, fnord! Here’s another one.

Not having a particuarly productive morning yet, so I scanned the news, and found this:
U.S. millionaire ranks up 16 percent last year: study
    Joe Rauch
    CHARLOTTE, North Carolina
    Tue Mar 9, 2010 10:17am EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Reuters) – The number of U.S. households with a net worth of at least $1 million jumped 16 percent last year after dipping sharply during the financial crisis, an industry consulting group said on Tuesday.

I found this factoid, oddly enough, both encouraging and depressing, at the same time. I wonder how much of that gain was investment income.

Now: What was that complaint about government stimulus again, folks? Robin Hood and all that?

I of course understand the difference “rich” and “wealthy.” As Chris Rock noted, Shaquille O’Neill is merely rich. The guy who writes out his paycheck is wealthy.

My question, then, will the merely rich myopically defend their short-term gain at the expense of the country, or perhaps realize that a rising tsunami sinks all boats? As they as likely to have disproportionate effect on the elections, I guess we’ll see.

The CBC, on Miss Sarah, with some detail, and ending thus:

A report last spring by Deloitte Center for Health Solutions said 750,000 U.S. residents travelled abroad for medical care in 2007 and forecast that number would rise to six million by 2010. That trend far outpaces the number of Canadians coming to the U.S. for medical treatment.

And I see they’re using tinyint also.

    Random thoughts and useless information.

I seem to have P.O. someone again, back to getting mail for my first name and a last generally “Bluedog” or at least something with dog in it.
    *****

My mother’s dog, he follows her any time she come out of her bedroom.
But once she leaves for the senior center in the morning he does not come out!

Now if she comes down here he comes too and she sets on the couch.
If I am setting there too, he comes up and sets between us.
Then stares at me wining and nipping until I pet him or talk to him.

This will I am trying to watch TV. and listening to what is being said.
It is so annoying, but for some reason this morning the fact that he does not come out and want my attention is bothering me! He never comes out to be with me, but wants my attention if he is in the room.

    *****
I have about decided to change my routine, normally if I do not have somewhere to go.
I do not get dressed in street clothes until I do want to go somewhere.
I slip on a pair of sweats and that is what I wear all day.
They are warmer then jeans and a shirt but seems to be turning into the frumpy housewife.

Thinking that I will once up, get dressed and more prepared for the world.

Thinking that I will once up, get dressed and “more prepared for the world”.

Reading this I wonder if that should mean getting drunk in the morning or string barred wire?

    • fnord

It seems to get me started better if I shower, dress, and am prepared for whatever the day may bring. Even if I never leave the house, or only walk to the park with Ginger, the days go smoother, are more productive, more peaceful.

Huffington Post said Rush stated to a caller that if Health Care Reform passes, he is leaving the US and going to Costa Rica.

One sticking point might be – Costa Rica has universal health care.

    LOL

  10. Sorry. I posted a duplicate thread on the Phelps family going before the Supreme Court. I had not seen the one already there on this subject. I erased mine.

    Iggy,

How is your Dad? Your Mom, you, your sister? I’ve wondered, and don’t won’t to intrude…
