Thomas Frank at Watermark September 16th

story[1]Thomas Frank, author of What’s the Matter with Kansas and The Wrecking Crew will be at the Watermark Bookstore (Douglas and Oliver) on September 16th at 7:00 p.m.  His second book has come out as a trade paperback and I suspect this is the reason for his appearance, or it could be because he  enjoyed the local bloggers so much last time.

The 16th will be a Wednesday night.  Maybe some of us could meet there again?

  1. My understanding is that Frank will give a talk like last time and also sign books.

    I’ll be there . . . again.

    I’m in.

    Oh Farrrrrrrmgrrrrrrrrl?

  4. I’ll wait to see how I am, it’s the week of my government work — some of those days are very difficult for me and in the evenings I assume a fetal position in a corner.

  5. Thomas Frank would understand fetal positions, especially as they relate to the Federal government. Hope you can make it, fnord.

Oh, man, I’d love to be there, but it’s not likely to happen. Wednesday is the day we stamp and wrap and bag and haul the paper to the post office. It’s pretty tough for me to get out of there before five, and it’s a 3.5 hour drive or so to Wichita. Even if I scooted out at 4 it would be cutting it close. Damn, I wish it were a Thursday or Friday.

Tell Frank he should try being a liberal columnist in western Kansas. Good thing we only have a circulation of a couple of thousand. I get lots of fan mail, but it’s mostly from out of town subscribers.

And I think it’s roll on the floor funny that my biggest supporters are the elderly. They generate the bulk of my fan email. I think they’ve lived long enough to know where the CONS will lead us.

And I just go on pointing out exactly what Frank says. Western Kansas continues to say one thing and do another. And to vote against their own best interests. I know their heads must be exploding every Thursday…

Definitely will be there. Frank is brilliant and a much needed voice of sanity!
