Please tell us, what do you want? ? ?

We (Well, I) do watch our blog stats pretty closely.  Wednesday was a good day for us in terms of hits.  Wednesday is usually our best day — my significant other says it is due to Wednesday being a day that is boring day at work.  She may be correct.

Do you have suggestions that would help this humble blog?  Please share them with us, if you do.

  1. I wish I knew what to tell you as I’m still struggling to get readers for my blog aslo. lol. Are you on Alphainventions or Condron? Those are good ways to get readers, but do as I say, not as I do. I hardly ever take the time to post my blog on those sites. I can’t seem to get anyone at Digg or Technorati to give me info on how to correct the errors I get whenever I try to get my blog connected to their sites either. I’m just floating out on the void hoping people get word of mouth out about my site. lol. If youe ver get any useful info on how to drive more traffic to your site I’d be tickled pink if you would remember me when you come into your kingdom. lol

    More gossip and nudity?

  3. PrairiePond

    Farm porn?

JK. I like it the way it is, but that doesnt get us more readers. I should get off my butt and do more political posts. Heheheh. Posts from the Angry West? Hmmm.

I think, as Rita Rudner said, we’re just “born to be mild” out here. No wonder I dont fit in…

Destroy all other blogs so there’s nowhere else to go.

Seriously, there are so many out there that trying to keep up with the good ones or even find the best of the best is an impossible task. Many people read, but few post. I’m probably more guilty of this than anyone. The major problem is time, so iggy’s SO is probably spot on. I have 2 blogs of my own, and I comment on my writers group’s blog nearly every day. The only time I seem to make it to the Harlequin American blog is when it’s my day to post, once a month. Then there’s Facebook to contend with, including my own and a fan page for my friends The Ditzy Chix. I only made things worse when late last night/early this a.m., I got myself into a discussion on one of the Amazon boards. Will I never learn?

Would using Twitter help? I’m totally clueless on how to use all the gadgets, whistles and bells, such as RSS feeds. I don’t do text messaging on my phone. Good grief! I can’t see the letters on those little buttons without my glasses AND squinting. I heard TweetDeck was the answer, but I haven’t figured it out yet.

Wish I could be more help, but you’re dealing with a ditzy blonde whose learning curve is on the slow side.

  6. I love this blog and all the people here — including the new ones we occasionally have the opportunity to meet! Ann (who posts regularly at The Friggin Loon and has visited us recently) and I had a chat a couple of days ago. Isn’t that amazing!? Me meeting and speaking to someone in Australia, making friends, learning about her life, sharing about mine. Now that’s good stuff!

The world seems more chaotic and more abrasive than I am able to tolerate well. I love to learn from people who hold different opinions than me, people who know the many things I don’t know — but the discussions have to be respectful or I quit listening. Frankly, it’s not worth learning something new if I have to be abused to do it. I consider people who lack respect for others to be abusive.

fnord, I have a friend in Australia, and it’s been a blast. I keep meaning to ask Friggingloon to pass me some TimTams, but I keep forgetting. My friend is a fellow author, so that’s how we met. She and her husband raise sheep and, get this, farm wheat. They’ve had a tough time of it over the past year, as her husband has had health issues and there’s been a bad drought. She’s pretty much disappeared from the email loop where we converse. It’s always good to see another Aussie and remind me that Bron’s out there somewhere, writing and dealing with life, the same as the rest of us.

Try less news and more music… and dance dance dance!!!

I sometimes use Pandora, but not so much lately. I dl’ed a whole bunch of songs last year and ripped the rest, so I always have something to listen to. For the past few evenings, I’ve streamed KEYN. (I like those Oldies, which are now termed “classics”. An excellent description of me!)

  8. “Farm porn?”

Would that involve vegetables, farm animals, or both? Inquiring minds want to know…

    • New vet walked up to the horse, during his first visit to the farm, and asked the horse how he was doing. Horse replied he was doing great: the farmer fed him, walked him and brushed him every day.

Farmer asked how he got the horse to talk. Vet replied it was just a gift.

Vet walked up to the sheep pen, and the farmer said, don’t believe a word they say.

A few thoughts from the guy that is too lazy to add himself to the list of authors despite have been invited………………….

The “nameless blog” has gotten way out of control with right-wing yahoos. We need to kidnap the few remaining progressives from over there and drag to our new home.

We need more posters! So far, for a blog that is less than six months old, Iggy and Company (I like the sound of that) have done a remarkable job and should be commended. I am doing the one hand round of applause thing because I need the other to type. I imagine in time more progs will find this site and gather here, but weekends and nice days seriously cut into the traffic.

I seriously pissed off that the F’Grrl hasn’t posted any recipes – I came up with that idea just so I could steal her stuff.

Maybe I am wrong, but I have noticed (or think I have) that the social/political threads get the most hits. Yesterday’s Roeder thread has over fifty posts. Good job. Maybe you should post more often about your inconsistencies, Iggy.

(Point of obstinacy on my part – my spell check gives me the option to add words to my dictionary. I refuse to add “Roeder” to the list. SOB isn’t good enough to even be on my dictionary.)

Overall, a very good blog, still in it’s infancy and still growing. Good job, crew!

PS: Iggy, send me another invite and I will follow through (get off my lazy ass) and add myself to the list. I may as well share my wit and wisdom with a thread of my own!

Well, I am going to go out on a limb here and make a suggestion. (I am either brilliant or stupid or both!)

So I was thinking (something I try to do once a week or so) now, all of us here are exceptionally witty and possessing a finely honed sense of humor (you have to have a sense of humor to be a progressive in the State of Kansas) so why not exploit that fact?

I know that most of you do the same thing as me when you come across a copy of Reader’s Digest – you thumb through it and read all the jokes and humor sections before you hit the stories.

So, we have a recipe and fiction section, so why not have a humor section?

We all need a pick me up once in a while, so why not share the best and dumbest jokes with our friends – laughter is the best medicine (other than that BC Bud I picked up a few years ago.)

We are adults here (except me, I’m still working on growing up) so anything goes, let’s all laugh together.

Hell, over the last eight years, we have cried together far too many times.

Heard this one last night: City workers in the park, one digging a hole and right behind him a worker filling in the hole. Next day the same thing, one digging a hole and the other filling it in. I couldn’t stand it anymore and so I walked over and ask why. The two workers looked at each other and then said that their co-worker, the Tree Planter was on vacation.

  11. I think some of the progressives still on the BTSNBN when posting here miss the adreniline rush they get when fighting with cons. I go back the the BTSNBN sometimes, but for me being away from it lowers my tolerance for it.

“That Place” is starting to sound like the Opinion Line! It has gone to hell the last 6 months; is there such a thing as a nut magnet there? Or am I here because it’s a nut repulser? Hmmmmmmmm??

  13. When I go over there and see the entire “Recent Comments” page filled with JimJohnson or American Way … — too many to list ALL, I know it’s time to turn around and come back here where reasonable people are. If I find no one here, I start visiting blogs from our blog roll! All is well. I still post at TBTSNBN, but it’s hit and run posting for the most part.

  14. gimme, gimme, gimmie….

Just for you, fnord. I know how much you miss JJ, your soul mate. snorts…

  15. We are extremely close to breaking a record on the number of hits per day. Invite anyone you know to come join us. Thanks to all!
