hiding to changeThis cartoon made me laugh right out loud!  Then I thought about it and realized it isn’t really unusual for human beings to hide and change into what they show the world, their ‘public’ face.

What’s on tap for this hot summer Saturday?

  1. Stat your day with a good laugh. Here is Sarah Palin’s speech writer.

    • If Benny Hill wasn’t the best thing the ever came out of England, then nothing ever came out of there. He was a friggin genius.

Some one made the observation of Palin that seems so true:

“She is like an ice sculpture, the more she is exposed to the elements the more she melts down!”.

    • Put her in front of cameras with a microphone real close to her mouth as often as possible! Let her prove her mettle. (giggle)

  3. Hmmm, we all seem to have stopped talking. Are we admitting that anything worth being said has already been said?

NOPE! Nope Prairie P&Ps always have worthwhile opinions to express! 🙂

It is sooo hot and humid outside. I started trimming and mowing and making noise as early as I thought neighborly and it was already too hot. Stay cool folks, frequent breaks and lots of WATER (beer alone just doesn’t keep you hydrated!).

    • I’m still lurking. Sorry so absent.
Learning a little more about wordpress.

We went out to the farm, went through boxes of stuff in a metal machine shed where the temp was probably over 110 degrees. I finally gave up and came home. Brought home more than I should have, but there’s 20 times more to get another time. I hope next time the ex doesn’t stand there watching us as if we’re going to walk off with everything. I have my own junk. I don’t need his too. And he wanted to know if I took or knew who took his floor jack.

Sure, I picked it up, stuck it under my arm, and walked 25 miles home with it…during the last snow storm. (It’s like a 4-ton jack)

Oh, yeah, and his big orange extension cord is missing. Did I take it? Yeah, to make a noose for around his neck.

I have spent part of the morning researching something that broke yesterday about the Bush spying program. In a sense it like researching the cause of the Titanic sinking. You already know pretty much what happen and at times it is just pointless to bother.

I do not remember his name, but he is the Constitutional professor that appears on Count-down.
I think he is correct in the matter, “There is no doubt and more then enough evidence to support a indictment. But it is being disclosed as political points only, there is no Democrat in the house that wants to be the one who bring the indictment.”.

I have to admit it, Liberals have boring sexual affairs! A conservative has his affair in a steamy Latin country and a Liberal has his under the desk in the white house.

A conservative’s affair involves pay-offs, a secret Christian cult, several other Senators and Congressmen as advisors and co-conspirators. A Liberal involves a stain on a blue dress and impeachment for lying to a legal hearing.

A conservative goes before the media and confesses every detail, a Liberal goes before the media and denies having sex with a woman in the crowd. I guess that means that the conservative has an affair worth talking about and the Liberal thought the affair was so boring it was not worth mentioning!

    • One other BIG difference — probably the Liberal never held him or herself up to be a paragon of virtue, better than other mere humans.

Cheney Is Linked to C.I.A. Concealment of Terror Program

The Central Intelligence Agency withheld information about a secret counterterrorism program from Congress for eight years
on direct orders from former Vice President Dick Cheney, the agency’s director, Leon E. Panetta, has told the Senate and House intelligence committees, two people with direct knowledge of the matter said Saturday.

The report that Mr. Cheney was behind the decision to conceal the still-unidentified program from Congress deepened the mystery surrounding it, suggesting that the Bush administration had put a high priority on the program and its secrecy.

Mr. Panetta, who ended the program when he first learned of its existence from subordinates on June 23, briefed the two intelligence committees about it in separate closed sessions the next day.

Has Sarah ordered some cheese to go with HER latest whine?

      Hypocrit much, Sarah?

      You betcha! (wink, wink)

(I remember seeing this when it first aired and thought someone should smack her then.)

Standing Bear rose, extending his hand toward the judge’s bench:
“That hand is not the color of yours, but if I pierce it, I shall feel pain. If you pierce your hand, you also feel pain. The blood that will flow from mine will be the same color as yours. I am a man. God made us both.”

The story of Chief Standing Bear is a tale of sorrow and one of those milestones of this country.
The Ponca tribe had been driven from their lands by the Sioux and ended up in Nebraska.
The U.S, government wanted them to move to the Indian territories in Oklahoma.

But after several of the chiefs of the Ponca went to see the reservation they decided to not move.
A mistake was made later and the once again the lands now claimed by the Ponca ended up as Sioux lands.
The tribe was forced by the Government to move to Oklahoma, late in the season they could not plant crops and were given no supplies. Many died and on Christmas eve, Chief Standing Bears only son died. The son‘s last request was to be buried on the land he came from. So the chief and about 160 of the tribe members walked over six hundred miles in the quest to return the remains of the son to their lands.

General Sherman ( author of the quote “ the only good Indian .is a dead Indian”) Ordered Brig. General Cook to arrest the Ponca and return them to Oklahoma. Cook went to where the Chief and his tribe was being held. They were starving and weak such a forced march would have killed them. General Cook had been a Indian fighter for most of his career in the Army but he just could not apply these orders.
So he told a editor friend of his and it made the news papers and a lawyer filed a rite of behalf of the tribe.

Chief Standing Bear got his day in court and the above words so moved the Judge that he stated from this day forth the people of the Ponca were a person and a citizen of the United States. The U.S. government had argued that Indians were not persons or citizens therefore they could not bring the suit against the Government.

I know you all generally avoid the WEBlog.

In four years in fighting there, I have not since it’s beginnings seen our side so under represented.

I respect each and every one of you and your reasons for avoiding the place.

But the fact is? It IS or at least was the most popular and read progressive forum out of Kansas. Each of you had a part in that.

This is NOT a time to retreat. Already, our President pursues half measures and endures relentless attack from the right. THIS while the best the right has to offer melts down. After SO much damage that the right has caused, we have a real opportunity there at the WEBlog. WE can demoralize them.

They have these last 25 years no concept of defeat. That is why they felt free to force george bush on us and then TRY to force Sarah Palin on us.

That is why I come here now to ask you to return more often to the WEBlog. We have the opportunity there to reduce the con hopes to ashes.

I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I’m going to share why I rarely stop in at the other place.

It isn’t the politics. That’s not hard to deal with. It’s the nasty remarks that are not only personal but, well, sexual is the best way to put it. I’m not a prude, by any means. Just ask my kids. I can embarrass them with a smart remark in a flash. The response to that is usually a gasp and a “Mom!” But those guys have gotten worse than the guys I knew in H.S., and I heard their comments on a daily basis. See, I learned from the best. But if that’s all grown men have, then they should be pitied. I’m out of pity and left with only disgust. Not anger, disgust.

I’ll stop in when time allows, but time isn’t allowing much right now. I doubt anything I post would make a difference. They always have the same b.s. answers anyway. I’m not convinced even they believe them anymore.

  10. Big hug, wicked!

Thunderchild, some of us had to learn the hard way that sticking around gives the abuser permission.

I don’t like fights and will always avoid them if possible.

I don’t understand why you think demoralizing anyone is a good thing. But I won’t join in and I won’t stick around and grant permission to be treated with less than the dignity all humans deserve.
