Cruising through Freeperville, I found this gem. This writer thinks that the policies of Obama are crippling Christian people everywhere and the imperitives of the U.S. of A.

This is just a small sampling of the raging going on over at Freeperville. If you think that Scott Roeder is a rare and isolated case, reading in this place, might make you want to reconsider that thought. There are scary and very crazy nuts out there.

Every weekday Rush Limbaugh hauls out his dog whistle and blows hard for three straight hours. Some days he blows harder than other days. Yesterday was such a day. I listened to some of his radio broadcast yesterday and thought, “it’s only a matter of time before this kind of bilge is the last straw for another Scott Roeder.”
And we’re only five months in. Sheesh.

I read about (and briefly visited) a new website this morning. Seems some people with advertising experience whose work is remaking brands, updating, giving a fresh perspective — with the goal of improving the image or increasing the sales — have decided to ‘rebrand’ the GOP!
On their website they state they aren’t Republicans or Democrats, they aren’t being paid, weren’t hired. They decided to conduct this badly-needed rebranding as a fun social experiment. They’re asking for input from everyone of every political persuasion.
If you visit CALL ME G.O.P. (link above) don’t miss their N.C.A.A.-type bracket titled “Meet the Republican Sweet 16!” They are even asking for people to vote on the contests they’ve bracketed! All the usual suspects are there — click it up so you can read that they’ve included Coulter, Rush, Hannity… in their Sweet Sixteen.

Obviously there are people in this country who are out of control and were allowed to be that way for 8 years. The Dubya admin hacked away at the Constitution with great freedom while chopping up ours, yet it was all good for the repubs. I laugh every time I think of some of the empty pockets and prison terms out there, thanks to the mangling of the financial system they managed. I cry when I think of the harm they’ve done.

It took years to find GODSPELL on DVD. Yes perhaps it comes as close to my own faith as anything else.
Within it there are many things to take from the play. About God and faith. “Alas” has always covered many of those who wrip themselves in the cloak of God.
Alaska, a BIG red state is considering Ordinance 64 — an equal rights ordinance. There have been protests, the sides have been chosen (they’ve even adopted colors so it’s easy to identify which side they’re on!). At a recent Anchorage Assembly Meeting an Alaskan Native gave testimony — read it here.
I appreciated all her words, but these inspired — “I know the face of hate. Hate is a thing that is learned, and when those in opposition claim that their “Truth is not Hate,” well, they fail to remember that the same justifications were used and are used to first dehumanize a population by labeling them with such things as “dirty” or somehow inferior, and then to segregate or marginalize that population. In this case, as we speak, gays and lesbians are being brutalized and even killed – in Africa, in the Middle East, and yes, the U.S., and often with religious justifications. It starts with thinking that one group is somehow superior to another.”
Okay, I can’t let this slip by. Not ranting me.

Fine talk from the Right, the “let the kids starve” group, about a man who has spent much of his life trying to better things for others. I truly, truly feel sorry for our president. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t.

I call it “martyr envy” when they try to tie God and their outlandish actions. There are no one being fed to lions for their faith. They can come and go to their church without a hindrance and worship without fear of punishment. So this is how they choose to show their love for God and to suffer for their faith.
It really is a self imposed suffering they can acclaim as for the faith.
IN the end it is like stubbing your toe and saying it is because of God’s will. If it was God’s will then perhaps it is he way of telling you “Hey dummy, next time remember to turn the light on before walking into the room!”.

Yet let someone of a different faith try to practice, and all hell breaks loose. They’ll accept those of the Jewish faith because it bumps up against Christianity. Of course they feel sorry for the Jewish. You can hear it in their voices when they talk to them. See it in their eyes. Poor, unbelievers. Can I ride your coattails as one of God’s chosen people?
Please, don’t anyone flame me. I AM NOT talking about all Christians. I know some who I admire for their faith and love of God. It’s the rest of them who make me want to gnash my teeth and howl. You know, the humble and righteous ones.
And once again it is those “humble and righteous ones” who are loudest. People of true faith must be embarrassed by many of their spokespersons. Those loud mouths set themselves up as the pillars of Conservative (UN)wisdom. Perhaps the election of President Obama was one way the quiet faithful had of saying, “Sit down, shut up, you don’t speak for us.”

The tag on the car in front of me at the stop light today said GODS1ST. I turned to my daughter and said, “yeah, humble and righteous”.

I have been guilty – I am so ashamed – of DEFACING some of the Christian bumper stickers that I see in parking lots. Not the innocuous ones, but the rabid, anti-gay, anti-liberal, anti-minority stickers.

Yes, appalled. My windows were down and the guy in the truck next to us probably heard me joking about it. I’m turning into one of those little old ladies who just say what’s on their minds, and to hell with what people think. It’s fun. Embarrassing for the family, too. I owe them that much. LOL
I’d think Jesus would be appalled at what some of his followers are up to. At me? I see Him as having a sense of humor. (Him capitalized in deference to those with faith. It’s just…polite.)
