Since it’s Juneteenth, and the Senate formally apologizes for slavery, well…. all us crackers may as well admit it. The picture in the hall at your local church is all wrong. THE MESSIAH IS BLACK! Read lyrics, listen to song, comment. ~sekanblogger
Everybody got the right to speak their mind
So don’t shoot me for saying mine
Everybody talking about racial equality
‘Cos everybody’s equal in the good Lord’s eyes
But if I told you that God was black
What would you think of that
I bet you wouldn’t believe it
There’s a self made prophet living right next to me
He said the Black Messiah’s gonna come and set the whole world free
He looked at me with his evil eye and prophesied
And he really believed it
He said a Black Messiah is gonna set the world on fire
And he no liar, ‘cos he has truly heard the word
Everybody talk about racial equality
But I’m the only honky living on an all black street
They knock me down ‘cos they brown and I white
Like you wouldn’t believe it
They say a Black Messiah is gonna set the world on fire
A Black Messiah is gonna come and rule the world
Everybody talk about racial equality
Everybody talk about equal rights
But white’s white, black’s black and that’s that
Everybody got the right to speak their mind
So don’t shoot me for saying mine
Everybody talking about racial equality
You hear everybody talking about equal rights
But white’s white, black’s black and that’s that
And that’s the way you should leave it
Don’t want no Black Messiah to come and set the world on fire
A Black Messiah is gonna come and rule the world
Everybody got to show a little give and take
Everybody got to live with a little less hate
Everybody gotta work it out, we gotta sort it out
Everybody got the right to speak their mind
So don’t shoot me for saying mine
Juneteenth was one of my favorite holidays in Austin. It’s an optional state holiday, so lots of state workers take off to attend the parade, the celebration and music in the park (on the east side of town) and the families picnicing with their dogs.
The Victory Grill, a venue for blues since WWII, usually has blues luminaries for one night. It isnt open all the time, just for special events since it was cleaned up and repaired by a bunch of community activists, blues fans, and community organizers. You know, the ones the cons hate so much?
I miss Austin. Take your pick. The Live Music Capital of the World, or The City of Ideas. No matter the slogan, as far as I’m concerned, it’s the greatest city on earth. No wonder they have bumper stickers that say “On Earth as it is in Austin”.
I wish that were true….
Oh yeah, and the newest battle cry from hippieville?
KEEP AUSTIN WEIRD!
I’m so homesick for sane people.
Hey hey pondie….
My favorite old hippie is coming back to Austin, next month! (Shawn Phillips)
He’ll be in Dallas on the 17th.
I think I’m going….
I think.
Cactus Cafe!
Really small intimate venue.
Maybe I should think about driving a little further?
If you are horny and lonely get a guitar.

LOL I once said to the twenty-something son of a Guitar teacher I had. That he should also take some lessons from his dad. Because girls love guitar players. I play badly but even I notice by just mentioning I play woman seem to warm up. “ I think that is so cool!”.
Morning Prairie P&P’s I have just been doing my drive-bys and came across a fantastic post. Please watch the video of 10 year old Jonathon McEvoy’s speech to eradicate the N word. Brilliant!

Be patient enough to listen through the adult man introducing this 10 year old who has a potent message. This is the link Loon provided, and well worth listening to.
