Two happy fathers

gay-penguins-caWhy can’t humans be as understanding and accepting as other living breathing inhabitants of our planet?

Two gay male penguins have hatched a chick and are now rearing it as its adoptive parents, says a German zoo.

The zoo, in Bremerhaven, northern Germany, says the adult males – Z and Vielpunkt – were given an egg which was rejected by its biological parents.

It says the couple are now happily rearing the chick, said to have reached four weeks old.”

Would many human children find loving homes if we were more accepting of gay couples?  Would we move a step closer to solving the problems of unwanted pregnancies if couples who would love to be parents were given the opportunity?

    Thanks for the reminder!

It’s amazing what movies can teach. Happy Feet was a fantastic movie, not just for children, but for adults. I learned a whole bunch about penguins, got to listen to Hugh sing ;), and discovered a movie that richly spoke to adults with a message that brought tears to my eyes. If you haven’t seen it, you should. Like the German male penguin story, there is much to learn.

  2. Wow this would make a great Disney film.
Can you imagine Robin Williams and friends doing the GAY GERMAN PENGUIN ACCENTS?
    Ha!
    That would be a hoot.

Conservatives would not believe the two male penguins were gay. These people still think homosexuality is a learned behavior, don’t they?

We need to encourage all families – not just the traditional 1 man, 1 woman and 2.5 children in the suburbs.

But we are still dealing with the ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy. Why can’t we all just be mature and responsible adults?

  4. And then there were six: New Hampshire Governor John Lynch signed legislation late Wednesday to make his state the sixth to legally recognize gay marriage.

Does anyone know how many states allow gay people to adopt, or how many don’t? I can look it up, but wondered if someone already knows. Does Kansas allow gay people / couples to adopt? Does it make a difference whether it is an individual or a couple?

  5. We did it again! Our friend, the Loon, has this story. But wouldn’t you know — done better! That loon knows how to do a story!

Ralph, our Yorkshire boar, was gay. He was replaced by the Duroc boar, Jack P da Boar.
