The Republican Party is off to another meeting, this time they begin meeting today in Charlotte to address what they might do to attract more support from minorities.
I don’t think stopping being racist is among the ideas they’ll consider. I’ve heard they are considering finding more black and Latino people to speak at their conventions and maybe on the television talk shows too, a few token minority candidates. Herman Cain again, or someone equally foolish? That’s the ticket! I think it might work as well as their plan to stop using the word rape in order to attract more women.
Maybe they’ll come up with some buzzwords or a slogan! Maybe they’ll all agree to find someone with brown skin to mow their yards and clean their houses, under the table payment of course.
Isn’t it almost laughable to hear these Republicans say that they need to change the way they ‘deliver’ their message – and not change their message itself?
No amount of P.R. double-talk and gobbley-kook speak is going to convince women that Republican males still think they are dominant and all women are just ‘asking for it’…..
Especially if these same buffoons keep trying to pass these anti-women legislation in these state legislatures.
I suspect Republicans will continue to make the same mistake they did in 2008 when they thought women would flock to vote for Sarah Palin.
I’ve been through the articles where republicans are still whining and still trying to make Benghazi ‘something’ they can successfully hang around the neck of Obama and his administration.
Boy, do they sound childish and ineffective!
Ya know, all they have to do is get a republican elected president and they can have their own Secretary of State and the decisions will be theirs!
Until then, it seems they’ll behave like churlish Monday morning quarterbacks, second guessing and whining. That should keep them busy when they aren’t trying to win over women and minority voters. The two are in opposition to one another — the second guessing and whining does the exact opposite of attracting voters — but recognizing facts of a situation doesn’t seem to be one of their strong suits.
It has been getting me too, the mindset of if we just talk stupid enough the masses will fall in line with mindless speak. Never mind that if you depend on a people that are that stupid to amass your wealth they would be too stupid to do the work to amass the wealth for you!
I heard Howard Fineman last night say that yesterday’s hearings were the last nasty act of the 2012 campaign and the first nasty act of the 2016 campaign. Prior to the election, the repukes thought they could somehow tar Obama with lying about Benghazi and hurt his re-election campaign. Now, they see Hillary as a real and credible threat to their candidate in 2016, given her sky high approval ratings and formidable Clinton campaign and fundraising organizations. So.. they went ahead with the hearings, even though 2012 is over. It’s never too early to be misogynist rat bastards in anticipations of a really filthy 2016 campaign.
Well, if all the republicans are willing to do is fight against what is good for Americans, and then fight to repeal what they didn’t take part in shaping, their only choices are cheating and making ugly. They make ugly as if it comes naturally, and if out and out cheating doesn’t work they change the rules.
I don’t think in my lifetime I will see republicans actually join in the debate and help shape the legislation. It seems to be necessary to them that they be the sure winner and the democrats are easily identified as the loser. Making sure democrats are the loser seems equally important to them as winning. As for win – win? That’s out! They don’t want a partial win if it leaves democrats with a partial win too. Once again we can clearly see the republicans are going down and they’re very willing to take America down with them.
Look at the above picture – isn’t that Tony Perkins from the American Family Christian Group? Yeah……Bryan Fischer is also from that same group – IIRC.
We remember Fischer – don’t we? He is the one that said God allowed those 20 innocent kids to be murdered in cold blood because we allegedly do not allow prayer in schools.
Hey – wake up and smell your rancid tea – prayer is still allowed – it is just not promoted and followed as only one religion – Christianity. And that is the problem with these Fundy Evangelicals. They cannot seem to grasp the concept of the guaranteed right of freedom of religion.
These buffoons only want their religion – nothing else need apply.
This is from John Prine’s song “Pretty Good.” It’s the last verse.
I heard Allah and Buddha were singing at the Savior’s feast
And up the sky and Arabian rabbi
Fed Quaker oats to a priest.
Pretty good, not bad, they can’t complain
Cause actually all them gods is just about the same
Pretty good, not bad, I can’t complain
Cause actually everything is just about the same
Here’s the whole song if you want to hear it. It’s one of my favorites.
If yesterday’s hearings were the first nasty act of the 2016 campaign, at least the republicans gave us hours of material to use in campaign ads. Democrats can show angry republicans behaving poorly, then an accomplished intelligent Democratic woman side-by-side.
I learned something on the NPR show yesterday. Condi Rice was the Secretary of State that got the most negative votes…..She got 13 (count them) NO votes.
Hmmm……Republicans like to trot out Condi Rice as being such a superior Secretary of State…..
My, oh my, this issue just keeps popping up – doesn’t it?
I’ll listen to these Church leaders when they clean up their own backyards.
Until that day – these gold-blinged robed men should keep their perceived ‘religious persecution’ and their dogma concerning birth control out of the public arena..
You know, I would not feel this way if the current Church leaders would take responsbility and hold those who did wrong accountable for their actions.
As to date – I don’t recall any church leader being kicked out of the church, fired from their job or even demoted.
The church has had to pay out billions (and was that insurance money or their own money?) – but where is the accountability?
Like I said above – the day these Church leaders clean up their own backyards is the day I’ll start to listen to them..
Did you see where the Catholic Church said — in court — that a fetus wasn’t a person to avoid culpability in a wrongful death suit? Yep, A fetus is a baby, except when it isn’t convenient for the church.
I had not heard that one but it does not surprise me.
I will never understand their church doctrine that allows for annulment of a marriage that produced children. An annulment – IMHO – means the marriage never took place . So, if this is true – then where did the children come from?
So, bottom line, the church would rather label these kids as ‘illegitimate’ (a term I grew up with and have always hated) rather than to simply acknowledge the truth that some marriages do end up in divorce?
That callous treatment of these children that had no say in what happened to their parents is being a loving and caring church that represents a loving and caring God?
NOT now and not EVER in my world would that doctrine make sense.
BTW – I take that annulment nonsense very seriously because my friend – who has never been Cathollic had an ex-husband (who converted to Catholicism to please his new trophy wife) who sent a Catholic priest to harass her into filling out paperwork for annulment of their 20+ year marriage that produced 5 kids.
I also work with a man who is doing the exact same thing – and he has 4 kids by his ex-wife.
But the common thread here is – both men found themselves a new trophy wife.
One difference – my co-worker has been a lifetime Catholic.
I guess making those trophies appear to be shiny and new is more important than their kids?
And let’s not forget – a friend, who is a lifelong, devoted Catholic, requested prayer for her daughter that had miscarried. The response she received was – Father will have to review this request..
WTF…..
Again – I suspect – we are seeing that idealogy that women cannot be trusted? You know – women who really just ‘ask for it’ and then try to call it rape. Or maybe a miscarriage was really an attempt of an abortion?
You know us women – we cannot be trusted.
I call B.S. on all this nonsense.
I guess it’s okay when the men trade in their wives for those new trophy wives but women are never to be trusted?
It is the law in Colorado — born alive makes a person. It is also the law in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA that it is legal for a woman to seek an abortion, and that birth control be included in health care policies.
Of course in Kansas the evangelinuts have made a law that if a pregnant woman is murdered, and as a result her fetus dies, two murders were committed. So the Catholic Church couldn’t use the same defense in our state.
The Catholics have tied themselves in knots and made anything they say less believable.
LOL you have all heard that ole saying about “I washed my hair and now can’t do a thing with it!”. The same is going for my computer now since the grandsons have moved in with us. The favorites are so screwed up except for the sites for cartoon network and their favorites I ended up having my daughter find this site for me! It totally disapeared from the favorites and also the computer screen is so scatched up I can hardly see the sites.

We can all remember Mitt Romney infamously talking about how he told his landscapers that he could not have illegals working because he was running for president…
I guess – if he is not running for office – then hiring illegals is okay?

Under HB 206, if a woman ended her pregnancy after being raped, both she and her doctor would be charged with a felony punishable by up to 3 years in state prison:
Tampering with evidence shall include procuring or facilitating an abortion, or compelling or coercing another to obtain an abortion, of a fetus that is the result of criminal sexual penetration or incest with the intent to destroy evidence of the crime.
Now even more women will be unable to report a rape! Way to further victimize the victim. This insanity has got to stop.

Yeah, Indy. The fundy concept of destroying their enemy, presumably in the name of their God, is not much different from an Islamic Jihad. So…
Christian terrorists = good.
Islamic Jihadists = bad.
