I was looking for Indian summer images and found this blissful looking lady — thought some would appreciate this pic as much as colorful leaves.
She looks peaceful, huh?
It’s only four days ’till Friday!
How was your weekend? Saturday’s weather made it one of those days to savor, and the House passed a health-care reform bill! Let’s hear it for some small amount of progress! Lots of hurdles yet to go, but it’s a first step! After generations of doing nothing at least one step has been taken.
What are you thinking about that you’d like to discuss with others?

I think sometimes we “libruhls” are guilty of being self-righteous and politically correct.
But there’s no reason in the world not to feel guilty about thinking this is funny. And it helps that the butt of the joke gets it and goes along with it.
Be ashamed for laughing. Don’t be ashamed for hating it. But one thing about being a “libruhl” is exposing yourself to –

Isn’t there something you can check if you want to be contacted when replies are made to your posting? Is that what happened – did you check that box the time this particular posting came up?
I’ve often wondered about that option – but I’ve never checked it off due to I am usually checking back on the blog later to see any and all postings for the day.
Just a thought…

It awaited moderation because it had three links in it. I quickly got it out of moderation! The control is set at two not to limit anyone using as many links as it takes to help all of us understand the point being made, but to protect from those sites that want my penis (??) to be as large as it should be.

One day while setting in the cafeteria of the Courthouse, one of my fellow jailers yelled to the beloved Buddy who was the blind shoe shine outside the cafeteria. “Hey who ya staring at?”.
Buddy replied, “I was following that sexy woman that just walked by with my nose! She smelled like she was a 10.”.

Just goes to prove a point – there is more than one way of doing some things , huh?

“I think sometimes we “libruhls” are guilty of being self-righteous and politically correct.”
We’re justified in feeling self-righteous! We didn’t decide what our political beliefs were without deep introspection, lots of study and understanding, ’cause we’re cerebral and we think things through! When given choices we don’t do ‘gut reactions’ unless there is absolutely no time to see what all the insandouts, consequences and benefits might be. When you know you’ve spent that time thinking it through completely why would you feel your decision was less than the best? Is that being self-righteous or understandably taking pride in concerted effort? Even after all that introspection, we’re open to new information that may allow us to see something differently, change our minds. We continue to listen to Republicans even tho they’ve proven to be wrong so often, we understand there could be a time when, like the clock that doesn’t work, they are right.
Republicans have identified government itself with the forces of evil, yet, political power can only operate through government. That contradiction is where they begin!
Yes, why wouldn’t we feel smug?
On the ‘politically correct’ part — when you aren’t playing a part and pretending to be human, but honestly feel compassion for all persons, you easily understand none of us is perfect, all of us are special, diversity of all types is to be celebrated for what it adds. Differences are never a threat, but learning opportunities. Laughing at yourself and with others is easy.

Palin Buys Into Coin Conspiracy
The U.S. Mint is not keeping God where Sarah Palin does—close to her heart—and she’s miffed about it. Politico snuck a reporter into Palin’s off-the-record speech to the Wisconsin Right to Life group on Friday night, and found the former governor of Alaska floating some weird theories about the latest design of American coins. Complaining that there had been a lot of “change” as of late, she wondered why the phrase “In God We Trust” has been moved to the edge of coins. “Who calls a shot like that?” she demanded. “Who makes a decision like that?” She added: “It’s a disturbing trend.” The phrase was actually moved to the edge in 2007, before Barack Obama took office. Still, Palin is not alone: Senators Sam Brownback and Robert Byrd have sponsored legislation to move the phrase back to the front face of coins.

How our health-care reform ‘issue’ is viewed across the pond.
———————————
“The hard fact of healthcare costs
To British eyes, this focus on the public option seems a little odd. It would just mean one government-run – but not government-funded – insurance scheme among many others. Some Republicans fear it is the thin end of the wedge and would lead, horror of horrors, to something like our National Health Service.
Of course to many of us Brits, the cry “keep government out of health care” just sounds a little kooky, on a par with “keep government out of defending the nation” or “keep government out of building roads”. In Britain one of the main things the government does, one of the main reason people pay taxes, is for health care, so naturally the revulsion at it in the States seems a little strange.”

Sometimes Americans are so ignorant due to their arrogance.
No wonder the rest of the world laughed when George W. Bush got in as president – not once, but twice!!

Westboro Baptist Church Protests Outside Obama Girls’ School | Rachel Weiner
First Posted: 11- 9-09 11:26 AM | Updated: 11- 9-09 11:47 AM
Westboro Baptist Church, a hate group that travels around the country holding anti-gay rallies, protested outside the school attended by President Obama’s children on Monday morning.
The “church,” run by Fred Phelps and composed largely of his extensive family, is known for staging its events for maximum publicity and controversy. In the past, members have demonstrated outside troops’ funerals. Recently they have been targeting Jewish temples. Now they’re aiming their vitriol at Washington-area schools — including Sidwell Friends, where Malia and Sasha Obama are students.
A message on Westboro’s website refers to the Obama children as “satanic spawn” of a “murderous bastard.” Along with various schools, the church is also protesting outside the White House, the World War II memorial, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission field office.
Via ThinkProgress, one of the attendees (and Phelps’ granddaughter) posted a picture of the protest on Twitter:
Protesters were carrying signs with anti-gay, anti-abortion and anti-Obama slogans, slowing down traffic all along Wisconsin Avenue.
Malia attends the Washington, D.C. Sidwell middle school, where the Phelps family protested Monday; they plan to protest Tuesday at the Bethesda location, where Sasha is a student.

“Fort Hood Suspect Acted Alone, Officials Reiterate
The Army psychiatrist accused of the Fort Hood massacre apparently acted alone and without outside direction, investigative officials said Monday evening, even as the FBI launched an internal review of how it handled information gathered about the doctor nearly a year before the shooting.
Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan will be charged by the U.S. military rather than in a civilian court, the officials said.”
